Best Long Blade Weapon

Post by Indianasmith »

Having completed Tribunal and the main Morrowind quest, I am packing the two magic swords I got after Tribunal - Hopesfire and Trueflame. They pack a tremendous punch, but do lose their charge (I swap them out regularly). Question: Is there a better longblade weapon in the game? If so, what and where is it?

From what I've gathered the best magical weapons, or items generally, are those (such as daedric swords etc.) that you enchant with the spell(s) of your choosing at "constant effect."
Though, admittedly I'm fairly new to the game, if you've completed Tribunal and the main quest you may have found differently :)

I need to just break down

. . . and learn how to enchant things. As a minimal magic user, I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I know the kid who gave me Morrowind managed to soultrap Vivec and used his spirit to enchant his blade. I was just curious about "naturally occurring" weapons within the game.

I have been stubbornly trying to enchant things and have concluded it is damn difficult and maybe not worth the effort... *sigh*
A friend of mine knows the game very well, and she told me that even with your intelligence and enchant at 100 you still only succeed about 50% of the time.

I am serisouly thinking about having an ring or something created that significantly fortifies intelligence in the hopes that it will aid my enchant abilities.

However, there are many people in the game that will enchant anything you want and even though it is expensive, with all the cash you can accumulate in MW this is hardly an obstacle ;)

Sorry about going off-topic, hopefully somebody here will actually be able to answer your question.

Well, I've finished the mainquest and I am now doing the Tribunal quest, and I used Umbra's Sword almost all the time.

well to be honest chimp favoured the "ice blade of the monarch" (a sword worth 95k!) but last night we were playing alot of MW and found a vault in the temple canton in vivec full of really good expensive stuff! including a daedric clamore that does more damage so he has suddenly switched fav. weapons. The sword is also not enchanted so when he does enchant it he will be able to kill just about anything!

ebony and daedric armour

if you go to where I pointed out the daedric claymore was
(Telvanni vaults in vivec)
you'll find most of a set of ebony in thereas well as a bunch of rather valuable goodies :D , for daedric armour you want to go to
( tel fyr) , on the east side of the map, you need levitate , fly up once inside the 'main' hall and you'll see a guy with a full set of daedric armour (dont kill him yet though, wait until you have done the quest here, use armour eater on him and pickpocket his armour, you'll need calm humanoid or somethong though to stop him from attacking you)

there ya go! ;)

I always liked Goldbrand when I was playing a long blade character. Now I'm playing a short blade specialist, and I haven't found anything really amazing yet.
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.

I found a lot of ebony and daedric stuff on the plantations north of Vivec with my previous character. (though this time I decided not to kill anyone who didn't attack me first because I killed some people who were needed for quests with my first character.) So it's a risk you take.

My favourite long blade weapon is the Daedric Cresent Blade. It may not be the best but its unusual shape makes it, in my opinion the best looking on sword on Morrowind. I don't have GoTY yes so i haven't seen any of the new swords on it.
