Archer-thief multiclass hack?

Post by Luther »

Sorry if this has been discussed on this forum already. It's been a while since I've checked the BGII forum and this sucker has gotten huge since I've last been here.

My question is, does anyone know a way to hack the game so that I can create an Archer-thief multiclass? I'd like to have the specialties of the Archer but I don't want to dual class. I was actually thinking of using the Archer (fighter class) mod that was created instead of the Ranger kit. (sorry, I can't remember who made it. Btw--all you modders out there are badass.) I just want to do this for purity sake. I know I can make a plain fighter-thief and pick archer proficencies etc. to simulate.

Thanks

Mheh....Ive had the same problem, Ill be quoting UU here:

Try making an archer as a human, pure archer subclass fighter... (yes you neeed the Generic(fighter)-Archer component)

Then save, open up in sk, then if you chose human, change race and avatar to (half-)elf, and instead of class fighter, change to fighter-thief multiclass...roll levels and experience back to zero, so you can build ure character from scratch

DO NOT TOUCH THE KIT THOUGH!!!!!

You need Shadowkeeper for this, so I hope you know how to use it.

Best of luck...

I know....I did it with the Archer-Mage.....an even deadlier combo then the kensai-mage.

However, i discovered I cant play the mage type too long....not really my style. So now Im playing an Archer-Swashbuckler :p

Having loads of fun for now.....and hes pretty strong too :D

I changed Nalia to Archer-mage and she now is really amazing:
I dualled at lev 9, with GM (patched) in s.bows and Tuigan she has 5 a/r (with acid arrows ouch!!!) with a good Thac0 and a lot of hp. Plus she casts spell and will become a high lev. mage soon.
I also gave her prof in staffs and spears so in emergency she can TT and run in melee.
It is a very interesting built!

Sytze--is your Archer-Swashbuckler a dual class or multiclass? If multi-class--how did you get it to work?

Well "officially" he is a fighter-thief....with the swashbuckler kit.

However....If you make him an Archer (generic, doesnt matter)....level him up to the level you want, then change class to fighter-thief and the kit to swachbuckler...you will have a multi Fighter-Swashbuckler with Archer abbilities (THACO,damage, called-shot, etc)

I just name it an Archer-Swishie...who cares about the kit name anyway :p

I did something similar:
I wanted a half/orc kensai/thief (backstabbing machine!), so I started a human kensai and then changed to half/orc f/t as described above. After some gaming I was annoyed to not be able to wear anything, so I changed and added the barbarian kit and voilà I now have a barb/thief, but keeping the bonus of a lev. 9 kensai hehehehe!!!

Whoa. Archer-Swashbuckler eh? I'm all over that. Might be a bit cheesy but my game is modded all to heck so there will be plenty of tough battles. Now, where's a good place to get +5 arrows in Ch 1? :D

yes you neeed the Generic(fighter)-Archer component)

What does this mean? I'm trying to do the same thing but it don't work. I don't know if what that means has anything to do with it but I create an archer, then use sk to changes my class into a fighter-mage, not touching the kit. But when I load the edited game my archer kit is completely gone. Help plz someone.

[edit] o wait I've still got the archer abilities, it doesn't appear on the character profile. Do i still get the ranged THAC0 bonuses etc?

Kit abilities like THACO bonuses are applied as effects. Simply check the effects tab in SK to see if your character still has them
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

The Generic Archer kit (from the fighter class) can be found in a mod.

Namely the Tactics Mod, which can be found here:

Well, I'm not sure if I got the Archer-Swashbuckler combo to work correctly. Do both classes show in the profile or are they only reflected in the stats? Will the profile just say fighter-thief? I ask because when changing to just archer-thief, the class in the record says fighter-thief, but in the actual stat screen Generic Archer is listed. I was thinking once Swashbuckler is picked in SK as a kit, then it would be listed in the record too. Am I wrong? Are the Swashbuckler bonuses only listed in the stats?

Also, does this need to be performed with a brand new character or can I pull the switch after traversing a while through the beginning dungeon?

no. if you change the class when the character is level 7 (for arguments sake), you will only get the class benefits from the levels onwards.

Nope, I only have one called shot, and thats the one from before I edited it. I'm not progressing archer lvls, only fighter ones. Do i need the generic archer kit thingy to get it to work?

Also, i don't know if its just me, but the http://www.weidu.org site isn't appearing, just waiting on the load screen, where else can i get the generic archer kit?
