Tashia and Chloe
Tashia and Chloe
I did a clean install and re-loaded Tashia and Chloe. They both act normally except Tashia is reffered to as `I`m in my undies... this is so not appropriate` and Chloe keeps ranting on about a woman stealing a loaf of bread.
Is this normal, or have I still got a dodgy download?
Cheers

It's not the response that's important. If things are well, it should change their names and select information back to something normal. You might need to wait a few seconds or switch to a different area before it "takes", though.
If it's not fixing, then chances are that you installed a mod or patch out of order.

Just for your information, the "I'm in my undies... this is so not appropriate" quote is from the game The Longest Journey and if I remember correctly, they have used the main character from this game for the Tashia voice.
I did not know however, that they have transferred the actual dialogues from Longest Journey. I don't know why they would do that.

Well, I have to admit they are certainly interesting characters. When I lose Yoshima, I`ll have an all girl party - except for my character.
One thing does puzzle me - I`m in an active romance with Jaheira and Aerie. I told Aerie I didn`t fancy her but she`s still shown as level 2 romance and and keeps coming on to me. Jaheira doesn`t seem to mind.
Cheers

I have Tashia and Chloe installed, working, but there is a weirdness in the Trademeet pub where you first encounter Tashia. There are 2 Tashias, one of them joins you normally, the other one seems to be in mid-conversation ("leave me alone"). Tashia's "I'm invisible! Perfect" line kicks in and I think it's the second Tashia that says it...
I've tried what has been suggested in this thread, but the second Tashia is still there. Not that it bothers me too much ~~ it's still weird.

My understanding from a post by Tashia's mod dev a while back, here, was that the same person supplied the voicework. I imagine reusing her line (no doubt in a new version--using the old one would have been infringement of copyright) was a wink at the other game and those who knew it.
Incidentally, future versions of Tashia will be recut with all new voicework by a different actress. Apparently, the original actress is no longer doing games, necessitating a completely new set of voiceovers.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Ahhhh, I learn something new everyday from these forums I swear. I love this place!
I would have never though that the actual person that did the voice acting for Longest Journey was the same person that did the voice acting for Tashia. I say this because the people that do voice acting for games these days are usually celebrities or at least actors & actresses. Just look at the credits for voice acting for Baldur's Gate on the Internet Movie Database website (IMDB.com). You will find that most of the people on the list are pretty famous. For instance, the guy that did the voice acting for Irenicus (David Warner) is an actor that has actually acted in tons of hit movies (and did voicing for even a bigger amount of hit movies). As a matter of fact, I just found out that he was the guy that played Jack the Ripper in Time After Time made in 1979 (I somehow still remember that movie as I like it).
The point I am trying to make is that I am simply impressed that one of the modders on this forum got a hold of the person that did voicing for Longest Journey to do voicing for one of his NPC mods.
I am astonished to see that not only our modders here are geniuses but they have good contacts with people that are in the gaming business as well.
Now, if only someone could get a hold of David Warner to do the voicing for the full Redemption mod (the one where you can use him as an NPC throughout Throne of Bhaal (as opposed to just the ending))!!! Now, *THAT* would be absolutely fantastic, wouldn't it? If someone managed to do that, I bet that nobody would even be able to tell that the Redemption mod was made by a third party. You see, while I like the current Redemption mod made for the Ascension battle, the fact that the modder used *all* of the exact same auido dialogues for Irenices from SoA was a bit of a disappointment. After all, Irenicus remembers what happened to him in SoA in this mod so it doesn't make much sense for him to repeat the exact same audio dialogues (such as the "I lost all right to that name when the Seldarine... dialogue) word for word.
Anyhow, I now realize that I went way off topic there so I'll stop.

Probably not going to happen in the foreseeable future.
A friend of mine (who, like myself, worked for a good while as a creative gamesmaster in a large for-pay text-based MMORPG) is Warner's agent. He only took the job because it paid, and it's tough for him to find good work in the US despite being known. He also complains a great deal about his inability to get jobs doing the stage classics, which he enjoys best.
As for voice talent in most games, it remains largely unknown figures--even the programmers themselves, as was the case in the horrendous voiceovers for Etherlords I. Companies like Origin Systems and Interplay started using celebrated acting talent as a publicity stunt; Garriott cast some pornstar in one of the Wing Commander games, and Sheena Easton provided the voice of a character in PS:T. There were others; these are just two examples.
Two points, FWIW. First, good voiceover talent adds to the gaming experience. It makes the environment more believable in an RPG. In other games, it bolsters the image of no-corners-cut, quality programming; though it is no substitute for that quality.
Second, no research has shown that name talent as voiceovers bring in any additional audience. Despite endless sales figure evidence to the contrary, publishers in general still don't appear to realize that glitz doesn't sell games. Many badly designed titles have failed despite big name branding with movies, actors, etc. By contrast, many games, like The Longest Day or Divine Divinity, have succeeded despite the lack of voiceovers by the latest cheese- and beefcake. The same applies to cutaway movies, which add no gameplay to the finished product.
The actress in the current Tashia mod is good, but so is the acting in several of the other mods; in fact, it's often as good as the acting in BG2, itself. There's no miracle in this. It's simply that there are plenty of decent actors out there looking for work, and only the tiniest fraction of 'em ever achieve stardom. The rest can be hired, if you'll pay Actors' Equity wages; and there are always plenty of talented amateurs, if you won't.

SOA
TOB
TOB patch
Baldurdash (if desired)
One and only one .tlk-overwriting mod (TDD/SOS/TS, if desired)
TBG/IAP mods (check for intercompatibility, no warranties expressed or implied)
WeiDU mods (check their READMEs to see if they have a particular preference as to when they're installed.)
And Fable, Tashia's voice was just flat out ripped from TLJ and actually from one or two other sources (I know at least one of the lines in her soundset is just a BG2 PC set default.) The author didn't hire or even commission anything original.
You might be thinking of Chloe, whose original (amateur) actress kissed off the BG2 scene long long ago. They actually tried to recast it before release so they could have more lines voiced but nobody came through for them.

You're right! I was thinking Chloe and writing Tashia, because I've been meaning to start up a party with that pair. Thanks for the correction. I hate to mislead people.
Now, about Chloe: does anybody know if she will split the party after having formed an assignation with your PC, if you still find and dismiss Imoen? In advance, thanks.

On the subject of companies hiring celebrities, I meant to say the same thing you did in that they are only trying to market games by using famous people. Certainly, like you already pointed out, there are tons of talented people out there and there is no reason that an unknown person can't do voicing as good as someone earning millions of dollars because of celebrity status.
My point was that it is actually hard to get a hold of people that are earning millions of dollars from celebrity status and my surprise came from the fact that I thought our mod authors were able to get a hold of these people.
I did not know that they used a porn star for Wing Commander!!
Finally, celebrity or not, you gotta admit that David Warner does add in to the game immensely. His voicing alone is maybe one of the reasons to buy the game (but of course it is not the only reason, far from it).
In addition, I have just gotten the Big Picture mod with the NeverEndingJourney component to install and work correctly recently and I really enjoyed the voicing for the archdruid in Kaldahar (or is Kaldehar?) a lot yesterday. It seems that pretty much all of his dialogues are voice acted and they all sound VERY original. I really could not tell that his voicing was done by a thrid party. It was as good as, if not better than the voicing for the characters in SoA or ToB.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe that I said I don't know this NPC!!!!! I really need to get more sleep. I played the game with her for half of SoA just recently and when you guys said Chloe, it just didn't even register.
The hilarious part is that it finally registered on me when I went to the link you posted above. I kept reading the description of the NPC and kept thinking to myself that this looked so much like the NPC I just played with that it must be somebody's rip-off. I then wanted to check the name of the NPC that I played with so I looked into the folder where I download my NPC mods and found the ChloeMod-v12.rar. OUCH!!!!
Now, that's pretty stupid, eh?
EDIT: Chloe's voice acting is **EXCELLENT**. Whoever the person is that did her voicing, she has got some real talent. Her voicing is 100 times more suitable to the game environment than Tashia's or even Kelsey's.
I just could not stand Tashia saying stuff like: "What's up? What's the occasion?" when I clicked on her.
I almost expected her to go flat out: "Yooooooo, wassup!!! or "what's goin on duuuuude?" or "watcha doin bro?"
That just... does... not... fit in with Baldur's Gate.
