Hi there,

I didnt think to include familiars but some of them are quite useful depending on how you build wiz/sorc. So for your convenience, here are their stats.

BAT
Master get +3 to LISTEN skill
Same as SKILL FOCUS Feat

CAT
Master get +3 to MOVE SILENTlY skill
Same as SKILL FOCUS Feat

HAWK
Master get +3 to SPOT skill
Same as SKILL FOCUS Feat

LIZARD
Master get +2 to WILL SAVES
Same as IRON WILL Feat

OWL
Master get +3 to SPOT skill
Same as SKILL FOCUS Feat

RAT
Master get +2 to FORT SAVES
Same as GREAT FORTITUDE Feat

RAVEN
Master get +3 to APPRAISE skill
Same as SKILL FOCUS Feat

SNAKE
Master get +3 to BLUFF skill
Same as SKILL FOCUS Feat

TOAD
Master get +3 Hit Points
Same as TOUGHNESS Feat

WEASEL
Master get +2 to REFLEX SAVES
Same as LIGHTNING REFLEXES Feat

So you see, adding a familiar to your wizard is the same as getting a Bonus Feat, take your pick :) :) :)

Hey, man -

Quick question:

Do rangers get the same animal companions as druids, and if so, will they be the same for a 10th level ranger as a 10th level druid?

Oh, and here's another one actually:

Does the player suffer a negative consequence if their companion dies?

Thanks, bro.

Re : Companions

Thanx, Greywulf

Those are good questions, seems my Complete guide wasn't complete after all. I'll be more careful in the future.

The companions are the same for both classes, but rangers get them at a slower pace and won't get Brown Bear & Polar Bear.

Attack Dog, Chicken, Dire Rat, Jackal & Wolf :
Druid level 1 & Ranger level 4
advancement as Druid lvl, max +7

Panda Bear, Giant Lizard & Black Bear :
Druid level 4 & Ranger level 8
Advancement as Druid lvl -3, max +5

Brown Bear :
Druid level 7 & Ranger level 14
Advancement as Druid lvl -6, max +3

Polar Bear :
Druid level 10 & Ranger level 20
Advancement as Druid lvl -9

So a Ranger can choose Companions as a druid of half his level and his companions are weaker than the Druids.

The Companion doesn't get any bonuses on the level it can first be summoned, i.e. a Druid's lvl 4 & a Ranger's lvl 8 Black Bear has no bonus yet.

In TOEE Companion level is maxed at +7 for Druid lvl 1 comps, +5 for Druid lvl 4 comps, +3 for Brown Bear and 0 for Polar Bear.

When a Companion's BAB bonus & Comp. Lvl bonus = 6 or more it gets extra attacks, Druid L10 wolf has 2 attacks(BAB 2 + lvl 7=9), Ranger L10 wolf has 1 attack(BAB 2 + lvl 3=5)

A Ranger should have theese values halved, rounded down, i.e a 10th lvl Druids Black Bear has a Lvl bonus of +5 while a 10th lvl Rangers has Lvl of +1

:)

As for question nr. 2: No, there isn't any negatives at all when a companion dies except you have to dismiss the dead one and rest for 8 hours before summoning a new one.

They are the perfect cannon fodder and the Big Bears packs qiute a punch. A Polar Bear with Animal Growth, Gr. Magic Fang and Haste upon it is Awesome in battle!!

Animal Growth give dmg reduction 10/Magic, so use it always!!

I will start to edit the original thread to implement this info soon.

You keep me sharp, keep up the good work
:) :) :)

Thanks, man - I had a feeling rangers would be more limited than druids.
Oh, well - still, fodder is fodder.

Off to the bloodbath!
