I've found the mythril cache mentioned in the half-note I found in the old Amanautor temple. If I hit the [TAB] key I can see where the stuff is. But I can't click on it to access the goodies (I just get the barred circle cursor).
Have I missed something that lets me access it?

No you haven't.
The cache is quest related if your main PC is a Ranger.
You will then be given the cabin in Umar Hills as your base of operations and eventually do 3 or 4 quests to help the poor inhabitants, much like the Keep quests if you're a Fighter
There's no way to access the Cache unless you're a Ranger.
Don't worry, there's nothing of value inside.
