Wow, lots of questions, it would help to know how far along you are in building up your character. Here goes:

1. I find the best way to make tons of money is to go to daedric shrines and kill dremora lords for their weapons - most often daedric ones. The cheapest daedric weapon (dagger) is worth 10,000 gold. Then sell them to Creeper/Mudcrab. BTW - this answers the question about a good shortsword. For my money the daedric wakizashi is the best shortsword to wield. Dremora Lord weapons are randomized, you may find any one of the various daedric weapons on them or even a dreugh weapon. Daedric wakazashi's can be enchanted with some decent cast on strike spells like paralyze. I don't mess with treasuries as there's more profit in killing Dremora Lords and Golden Saints (they often have glass, ebony, dwemer or daedric gear). Golden Saint abound in the GrazeLands region. Take a boat to Vos and start wandering around, you should find a few. The easiest way to make money is to raid smuggler caves for their loot, especially their soul gems. Use the purple soul gems to trap lesser daedra - atronachs and ogrims in particular (worth about 9,000 gold each).

2. Mudcrab is on a small island due east of Mzahnch (the dwemer ruin south of Suran, north of Bal Fell). Find the island seperated from the Mzahnch island by a narrow and shallow wadeable watered area. If you can talk to the mudcrab its him - he will be the only mudcrab on the tiny island. DO NOT KILL any mudcrabs unless they attack you first lest you inadvertently kill Mr. Mudcrab. While he has 10,000 gold he only buys armor, weapons and some potions (alcoholic ones). You cannot sell him spells, soul gems, etc. Creeper is far more versatile and convienient. Just rest for 24 hours to replenish his gold.

3. With a few exceptions most daedric weapons have to be gotten off of dead Dremora Lords. Seek them out in and about deadric shrines. One will always appear if you loot the offering in front of daedric statues inside of shrines.

4. Glass is the best light armor. There are a few pieces of enchanted light armor (Saviors Hide for example) but glass is the best. Next best is assassins armor (if you have Tribunal).

5. Again, IMO the daedric wakazashi makes for the best shortsword. Better than the daedric tanto or shortsword.

hey! the rich mudcrab is on the island that is under the 'h' in mzhnch(dunno of the spelling)on the paper map, thats like east of vivec, it look like some kind of dwemer ruin pic on the paper map that came wit the game. The only better light armour i know of is that cuirass in Tel Fyr. Aryon at Tel Vos has a Deadric shortsword and i think one of the workers in a bookstore near Jobasha's bookstore has one too.

finding things

Call book stores and gaming stores that you are able to get to. See if someone carries The Official Guide to the Elder Scrolls III The Morrowing Prophecies. This is the best book to have and it's only about 15 bucks. I'm now looking to find the books for the expantions. They have everything in them. Sorry, no cheats.

Easy method to make money

There is a better way to make money then looting shrines and killing golden saints. If Alchemy is in your major/minor skills and your a low level this is a great way to level up and earn cash honestly. First travel to Suran. Go to the pawnbroker and buy the glass dagger. Get it fixed by a smith then travel to Caldera. Sell the dagger to the creeper. Upstairs in the mages guild you will find a master alchemy set, take it. Then travel back to Balmora and trade with the khajiit. Keep buying kwama eggs and crab meat until you 50 of each. Sell them back, keep doing this until you can buy about 600 of each. Get a big load of crap meat and kwama eggs and use your alchemy kit to make restore fatigue potions. As your skill increases you will make better more valuable potions. Sell them to the crab, creeper and the alchemist in Balamora. You will make money easily and you will level up.
My favourite short blade is the Black Hands dagger, which you obtain when you become Grandmaster of the Morag Tong.

Easy money...

What I do to get money quick:
1. Buy the "Soultrap" spell or get the "Souldrinker" dagger.
(Personally, I use the dagger.)
2. Buy a "Summon Ancestral Ghost" spell.
3. Get a bunch of common soul gems. (Easy to find lying around in tombs and the like. Or buy some.)
4. Summon the Ancestral Ghost, then cast the soultrap spell on it, or kill it with the souldrinker dagger. If you have the soul gems, you'll catch it's soul which is worth 4,000 gold pieces. You can trap souls which are worth a whole lot more, but the problem with that is selling them. I like the Ancestral Ghost because: #1, it's easy to summon, #2, it's easy to kill, and #3, their souls are easier to sell since they are cheap. I think Creeper in Caldera buys soul gems. And he has 5,000 gp. And yeah, the mudcrab on the last "h" island of Mzanch has 10,000 gp. The mudcrab doesn't buy soul gems though, which really sucks. Oh sure, he'll buy plates and forks, but won't buy a soulgem?! Haha, I think that's really dumb. Just my opinion...

you should go to the vaults cause there is some nice stuff in those vaults, all three houses have vaults in vivec in there cantons...

hlaalu is in the waistworks and the othere ones are on the plaza or the waisworks but they are easy to find, the door says
"(insert house name here) vaults" it is also helpful to have amulet of shadows so you can loot way easier

and now you can sell all the crap

Making money

The best way I've found so far is to head to Mournhold and kick some Dark Brotherhood butt, return to the Great Bazaar Armory, sell that stuff, and repeat. It takes less time with mark and recall, or course.
I found that grabbing their shoulder armor, boots, and any wild blades results in the most money with the least weight to carry
= more money!!!
I ended up with about 200K for 30 minutes of work. Easy stuff, those DB guys are pushovers (maybe it was my level, dunno).
