Shapechange...the best? HOU

Post by Galar »

Using level 9th spell with my sorcerer, you end out walking in a form of a red dragon. But his attack is poor and I can not find the breath? means no breath?
Beside, good to change in Iron Golem against psionic stuff, but what else ?

I rarely use(d) the Shapechange, because I think there are better L9 spells (TimeStop for one).

But my experiences are pretty much the same as yours, couldn't find a breath spell while in Dragon Form, which made it rather boring.
I mostly only use the Iron Golem form when using shapechange.

Shapechange is one of the worse level 9 spells in NWN. By the time you reach level 18 you should be able to easily take down as Ancient Dragon, so why could you want to transform into a crippled adult dragon. There are some far more appealing level 9 spells (like the aforementioned Time Stop, as well as spells like Wail of the Banshee and Black Blade of Disaster. Forget not metamagic as well!). It's also really annoying as you can't fit through doors!

If you really want to go dragon, get the epic Dragon Form feat (though it isn't very good either because it has bad damage reduction and no fear aura), though you will have to be druid or shifter.

Epic Sorcerer HOU

It looks that my sorcerer level 21st does not get additionnal spells anymore when levelling up.Or do I miss something?
So better to dual class but some of you believe that a pure sorcerer is the best

Epic spellcasters do not gain any more spells per day or learn new spells (though I believe that wizards are an exception on learning spells). Pure casters are arguably the best because of better spell penetration and many spells with effects based on level (Ice Storm!). Also sticking to one class gives more epic bonus feats.

hmm... I have to say that some of the prestige class combinations are very good for physical dmg based classes, but for caster classes pure caster I think is best as well
speaking of lvl 9 spells... WTH is up with weird? Do you make something so unspeakably horrifying that enemies die of fright or something?

(From Player's Handbook 3.5 ed, Phantasmal Killer) "You create a phantasmel image of the most fearsome creature imaginable to the subject simply by forming the fears of the subject's subconscious mind into something that its conscious mind can visualize: this most horrible beast."

(From Player's Handbook 3.5 ed, Weird) "This spell functions like phantasmal killer only it can effect more then one creature.

would be possible to think that only the enemies would see their greatest fear, because otherwise you would try to slay *everybody* that looks at the spell. (even innocent bystanders and party members). So maybe you see the "true nature" of the spell - while your enemies see their greatest fear

Besides - from looking close to the wierd spell effect - it does look like some tentacled monster trying to "grap" everybody in the area of effect :D

(Heh - discussing the "logics" of a fictive spell called wierd - funny thing with games, huh? :D )
