Anyone reading this book? I got hooked. I like the idea of portraying a more realistic recent account of the Mutant world. Sure they could scratch out a few "dudes" from the script but hey its an interesting read.
If anyone has read any Ultimate Xmen or any Ultimate books please post, seriusly if you read comics pick up the newest Ultimate Xmen. New Mutants part 2, its a stand alone thats just well *****en.

Yup, less spandex, aliens, time travelling and far-fetched filler villains. Sometimes the Ultimate X-Men account of well-known events is somewhat underwhelming (the entire Phoenix saga hardly ever happened, for instance), but it's a nice and more realistic "what if"account of the X-Men Unverse so far. Interesting to keep an eye on, regardless.

I can't abide the drawings. The sub-par artists that Marvel employ at the moment is one of the reasons why I can't bring myself to start reading them again. That, and the mess they've made of the saga. Pretty soon they'll start with the endless crossovers and ridiculous Annuals, you have to buy New X-Scout Avenger Man Spectacular to see the end of the plot, and then they'll have to re-invent the wheel again. The X-Men were at their prime from ish 200 to about 275, when they won the Eagle Award and Claremont quit. Especially between 220 and 250, with Marc Silvestri doing the artwork. The Fall of The Mutants and Inferno was comic books at their best, gritty and grown up.

Moonbiter the purpose of the Ultimate books is to have a clean start, to no have the mess of the saga from before. Not the twenty universes and alternate yada yada's.
Also I can say I definitly see some subpar artists work (see Cap and Falcon, ehh or cable deadpool). But stuff thats being done like Quesada's Daredevil, Gary frank's penciling of Supreme Powers, Neil Gaimens everything with 1602. Garth Ennis on his most recent release (punisher the end) I thought was not just *****en, but overall awsome for a oneshot.
Every label dc to image to ddp have crappy artists. Also without a doubt I believe that comics today are not written for kids, you can finda bunch that are adult, gritty.
Go grab a copy of Wanted heh.
