Screng and Hruda NPCs

Post by Greywulf »

I'm having the darndest time trying to recruit Screng and Hruda. I've been trying to get them in the party, but to no avail. I'd love to know if anybody has, and how.

A lot of what I tried is based on the information I found in Patchel's post.

Here's what I did - my CG 1st level rogue halfling talks to Otis, who agress to join him. We go to the Temple and then return to Nulb. Otis leaves the group, and when I ask him to rejoin, he says, "...unless you find out what's really going on there, I don't think I can help you anymore."

I went back to the Temple and stole and read Romag's diary, then returned to Otis. He agreed to rejoin me when I told him of the factions at work, and he suggested that we talk to Screng.
But when we went to Screng and dialogued, I only got her normal dialogue options.

I also tried talking to Hruda, and while I did get some different dialogue options, I didn't get any option to have her/her mother join.

Any tips?

Other stuff:
* When I talked to Otis the second time, I could reject or refuse his offer to talk to Screng - neither choice made a difference - it generates a journal entry in your logbook
* I went to the Temple with Otis alone the second time, and got XP for bringing him there again (472 at 1st level) - upon a second return to Nulb, he leaves the group and will not rejoin, and I still can't get Screng to join, although she greets me differently (more friendly)
* I also noticed that Hruda follows a different dialogue path after these events, wherein I am able to tell her that Mother Screng ALMOST came to the Temple with me. Hruda gives me some silver-tipped arrows, although you can usually get them from her regardless of Otis/Screng status.
* You have to be good-aligned for Otis to join you the second time, otherwise he says something vaguely rude and refuses to join

Any help is appreciated!

You may have to be Neutral Good. The information you get from them goes along with that opening vignette.

A-ha!

You're right!

My party alignment was NG, but the individual PCs were all CG - I just tested it with a CG member added in and it worked!

Thank you!
