You're gonna laugh, but . . .

I've never downloaded a mod to a game before. How do I go about it? What file do I save it to make it work, and do I access it through the regular Morrowind shortcut?
(This is a real newbie question, but it sounds like such a great mod I just can't resist wanting to download it!)

Thanks!

Wow! Somebody went to *a lot* of effort with that one by the looks of it. I won't be downloading it any time soon though, I already have enough trouble focusing on the original game :D

To install a mod:

1. Download the mod into your main Morrowind file (most probably in your "C drive" under "Program Files")

2. When you are done, open up your MW file and you will see a zipped file (or a stack of books if the mod creator used Winrar) bearing the mod's title.

3. Unzip this file into your Morrowind data files (you may need to download winzip or winrar if you don't already have them on your computer)

4. When you first load up your game after installing the mod, click on "data files" instead of play. When "data files" is open, you will see a list of games and/or plug-ins. Double click on the said mod so that there is an "X" within the box beside it.

5. Close "data files"

6. Hit "play"

There is a possibility you will encounter an error message when you load up your game. My experience so far has been been that if you continue loading your game anyway it still works. However, quite often this problem can be fixed, for more information go to: http://users.adelphia.net/~amito/MODs.htm

Good Luck!

I guess I downloaded it already but have not checked it out yet. It's not compatible with Firemorth, is it?

the big mod? no its not compatible with any mods except texture upgrades and rhedds heads mods, and i think some type of game improvement one, other than that i think itll mess up and crash. you wont lose any files you just have to reload.

well its something with bloodmoon, do you have bloodmoon checked while playing? Or maybe it requires bloodmoon if you dont have it installed... also make sure the textures/meshes are in the right folder that came with the mod

Thanks for the step-by-step, Dragon Wench

I like to maintain the illusion of competence, but the fact is I'm still a raging newbie at much of this computer stuff. However, I do aspire to eventually become a full-fledged computer geek (that's a step up from Master History Geek, my current rank.)
SO is there any kind of walk-thru to help with this mod, or do you just wander into it blind and play it by hit or miss? I'm still debating whether or not to download this. On the one hand, I could replay my wood elf, who is fairly low-level and still very early in the game, or I could take Thurgol into this new realm and see how much butt I could kick (knowing my luck, I'd get eaten by a dragon right away!)

Just one more question (I promise!)

Will downloading this mod in any way affect our ability to play all the way thru the three main quests (Tribunal, Morrowind, and Bloodmoon)? I've finished all three but my wife hasn't yet and doesn't want to have her game messed up. Sorry to be such a bother!
