Relegion in the game

I know there is a Horn of Valhalla out there somewhere.
Valhalla is a place vikings arived to if they died in battle. This is clearly taken from there (hence the name), and i was wondering. Are there other references to item and places that can be tracked back to myth and relegion, or have Bioware made up all the names by them self?

Valhalla is where the best and bravest warriors go when they die. Other warriors go to other halls in Asgard. I just thought you should know that, since it is one of your halls Odin

As for other references, I believe most are from the AD&D Forgotten Realms campaign world. I don't know much about that one, but I used to play pen and paper, and I know they put a lot of effort into backgrounds for some of their other settings. (Dragonlance, Dark sun). So I'd say the same is probably true for Forgotten Realms. Still, you can probably trace most of it back to some real mythology/religion. The Norse/Vikings believed in Elves and Dwarves (even light and dark elves, actually), but who didn't back then?

Hmmm, Jurosementalistile, I know where my warroirs go when they die. If they die in battle, they come to Valhall. If not, they dont. No matter how brave they are...
And for the record. The vikings didnt 'belive' in dwarfs, because the really existed.... unlike the Elves...

I don't just mean short people, they believed in another race of dwarves, that the gods created seperately from humans. I'm not sure what you mean by 'your' warriors, I'm just quoting Norse mythology. There were two castes of Gods, one of which were the Aesir, or warrior gods. When a viking warrior died in battle, he was taken to the hall of one of the Aesir gods, not (Contrary to popular belief) necessarily Valhalla, which was one of Odins halls and reserved for, as I said, the best and bravest.

Actually they weren't brought there by one of the gods but by Valkyries (some sort of flying women:O). Ever listened to the Ride of the Valkyries (R.Wagner)?

Most people probably know the Ride of the Valkyries, even if they don't know it by name. For all of you who are wondering if you know it or not, it's that song they always play on TV when someone is at an opera and there is a fat woman in a viking helmet singing.
By the way, you're right about the valkyries bringing the dead to Asgard (I wasn't sure what your message was saying). The Valkyries work for Odin, and they direct battles and choose who dies and who goes to Valhalla.
