Super Consular: LS or DS

Post by Lord Nyax »

Right now I am making a sort of super consular. My stats are:

9 Strength
8 Everything else
17 Wisdom
18 Charisma

I plan on getting both wisdom and charisma to 20 each. Now my question is: Should I go light side, dark side, or be light side with darkside powers? The only reason I can really see to be light is for destroy droid or heal. But there are many light side powers that raise your wisdom a lot. There is that cool circlet thing and those robes. They would add modifiers to the saves against my powers, but also make all the really good powers expensive. So, what does who think and why?

Not light side powers. Light side only items.

Go for lightside.
With 20 Charisma and Wisdom you can still use the DS powers.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

The +10 WIS from LS equipment should be able to off set any increases in terms of force cost by alignment adjustment. The equipment will also increase DC, will save and some skills making it a superior choice. You don't need that many LS points to use LS restricted items anyway.

Okay.

Okay then. Light side it is. What wisdom and charisma boosting items do you guys know of? Try to include where to get it and how much it boosts stats.

The LS powers are better (in my opinion) than the DS powers since they focus mainly on beefing up ur character rather than attacking this means, u can kill almost anything if u cast all the LS powers lilke Master valor, speed, and force armour. If u really want to be a DS char, be a soldier/sentinel, this gives brutal attack power and some fairly good force powers like kill and plague.

mm.. if hes a consular, hes not going to go on melee alot.. so 'beefing' up ur char isnt that usefull... im doind a DS Consualr right now... with my high wisdom, no on will be able to counter my dark powers... they will do good damage... plus.. Bastilla, Juhani and Jolee have LS powers... use theirs to boost u up.. use ur force powers points to get some offensive powers...

If he's a consular with 8 of everything except wisdom and charisma then no amount of "beefing up" will save him. He's going to be stuck as a force user. I'd also go light and take dark powers anyway.

WIS boosting items:

Circlet of Saresh:
+5 WIS
(Kashyyyk) Lower Shadowlands - Found on the ritual beast's corpse.

Qel-Droma Robes:
+2 WIS +5 AC
(Korriban) Caves - Found on corpse after killing terantek (sp?)

Star Forge Robes
+5 WIS +5 AC +2 saves (universal)
(Star Forge) Deck 2 - Instead of following the direction with the turrets go to the elevator on the left (?). Slice the computer to create the special robes.

There are no charisma boosting item to the best of my knowledge.

Whoah! Plush 10 to wisdom!

Okay, I think Malak should be afraid. (Spoilers)

When I finally get all the star maps and am past Deck 2 of the star forge, with the Light Side super robes, the save for Force Kill is going to be 41!!!!! Level 20+10 wisdom modifier+5 charisma modifier+6 force focus. Hehehehehe. Lets see if he can make that!!!!!

I believe that you have calculated incorrectly. Force Focus gives +3 (or +4) DC I think and the game should only take into account half your character level when calculating DC (Though there might be a 10 base DC for your powers). So the correct DC is actually 38, though please correct me if I am wrong.

Nope. I was sort of right.

Okay noober, Force Kill works like this. It's a DC5+The character's level+the wisdom and charisma modifiers. However, the consular also gets a special feat for free at certain level that adds 2,4, and 6 eventually to the roll. So it would be like this:

DC5+20+5+10+6=46. DC5 is self-explanitory. Level 20. +5 Charisma. +10 wisdom. +6 for the special feat. That's really high! I'm not quite sure how the rolls and stuff work, but I am pretty sure that even the toughest people will have trouble making that save.

I read somewhere that Malak's best saves are his fortitude (over the mid-30s, I think 38) and his worst is his will save (mid to late 20s).
