BG2 Oddities Thread (eg: The Pantaloons Enigma)
Hello everyone,
New here and have a quick question for the more seasoned BG2 veterans: I finished (and subsequently lost forever) my originaly BG characters and saves - is there any way to import (by download or otherwise) the original gold pantaloons from BG?
BTW, if anyone has any information to share or discuss re: other oddities or secrets of SoA or ToB, this is the place.
Thanks all,
Methestel

From what I've heard (of the entire operation), the Golden Pantaloons will appear in the trapped & locked painting (with the +1 dagger and the healing potion) at the beginnning of the game. All you need to to do is have the Golden Pantaloons in your PC's inventory upon exporting from BG1, and then they will be in the afformentioned area at the start of a game with this imported character.
Dungeon Crawl Inc.: It's the most fun you can have without 3 midgets and a whip! Character stats made by your's truly!
cheers galuf
Thanks! Looks like I'm out of luck then - I finished BG1 ages ago and have long since gotten rid of the computer, so I had to start fresh with BG2 - so no importing for me!
I was hoping there would be a patch - I'm sure there is but given my negligible programming skills, I am more likely to cause my computer to explode than to find it.

3 ways to do it without loading up your BG characters:
1. use CLUA console and do a createitem, create the golden pantaloons by typing in the correct tab.
With this option cheats must be enabled via BG2 ini. file, make EnableCheats=1
2. Download shadowkeeper, edit a saved game so that you have the pantaloons
3. Download a saved file with the pantaloons, dunno where to get that though
Oh whoops, 4th option is to redo BG and get the pantaloons!

thanks again....
Unfortunately, I don't really understand what you just said - as I said, I'm only a few steps from thinking of computers as 'magic boxes'.
It would be nice to get the pantaloons though - apparently the magical items that you eventually get for them are ridiculous.
If you have the time (and patience) could you dumb down your advice a shade or two?
Thanks!

ok there are 2 big ways to "cheat" in BG2
semi-spoiler*
1st way to cheat:
CLUA console: This is the in game cheat mode, it turns on all sorts of functions including a ctrl+T that instantly does a couple thousand dmg to anything you highligh, item creation, gold creation, exp gaining, etc. Also ctrl+8 during char creation sets all stats to 18
To access the cheat mode... click on the ;"baldur.ini" file in the game folder.
Add the line "Debug Mode=1" under the "[Program Options]" heading.
When you are playing the game press [Ctrl] + [Space] to display the console window.
Type the code in, the codes are case sensitive
press [Enter], then press [Ctrl] + [Space] to close the console
To create an item... the code is CLUAConsole:CreateItem("<item name>")
Other options and info can be found @ teambg
and @ gamefaqs
The name of the Golden Pantaloons is: MISC47
2nd way to cheat
Download Shadowkeeper
Install Shadowkeeper
Run Shadowkeeper
Load your saved game
In the inventory part of one of you characters, edit what is in a slot
Scroll around in the item menu untill you find the golden pantaloons
Press OK
save this edited saved file
Run BG2 and open the saved file that you edited
The item should now be in you inventory
