New Recruitable NPCs

Post by Arachnol »

Hey all,

following the various posts about NPCs and especially the ones on Animals made into permanent NPCs thanks Dominate Animal spells (thanks Greywulf and Mulligan), has anyone tried to do the same with Control Plants (scroll from Scorpp) on Black Pudding?

A 10th level Monk Giant Lizard can be impressive, but I am sure a 10th level Monk Black Pudding or Ochre Jelly could be much better. Imagine Meleny in the group along with an Ochre Jelly...

Any info about that?

self control

Reply to myself: puddings do NOT leave bodies, therefore they cannot be raised and added to a party.

Too bad, would have been fun!

Peace

It might be possible still, but there so few encounters with puddings and fungi. To explore this you'd have to use a Cleric with Plant domain, as he gets Control Plants as lvl 4 spell.

In game terms puddings have bodies, but i'm not sure if they CAN be charmed, having an INT score of 0.

3.5 rules state that fungi, vermin (spiders) and elementals are immune to charm, hold & mind-influencing effects.

But i DID manage to SUGGEST an Earth Elemental on Temple lvl 1, but it's body dissapeard when it died.

Have Fun :) :) :)

thanks...

Indeed vermin and ooze are not subject to charm spells. However I don't know how they worked out the control vs. charm and plant vs. ooze thing in the CRPG

control plants

Hi Mulligan!

I thought you were taking a break from the game ;) ....

Anyhow, I think you might have to use the control plants scoll from Scorpp, since Plants are immune to charms.

Good luck fishing fungi!

I have done some testing and found that:

Gelatinous Cube & Grey Ooze are indeed immune to Suggest & Charm. But the Violet Fungi can be Suggested!!. However, when it dies it's body dissapeares, just like with Earth Elementals, so it can't be made into permanent Npc.

Control Plant work exactly like the Entagle spell, except that it only affects the enemies (fungi) and your party can move inbetween them freely and attack. (auto Sneak Attack with rouges BTW).

Unless you play a Cleric with Nature Domain, you only have ONE go at this spell, and it should be used in the final fight with Zuggtmoy.

I decided to stop here, as i guess the bodies of other fungi will also dissapear. So i guess there's no way to make fungi into Npc's yet... :)

It was still a lot of fun to run around with a big mushroom in the party. :D :D :D
