Is it possible to dual an assassin to fighter?

Post by Coconut_Crab »

Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to dual an assassin to a fighter? I want merely to use that awesome 2 handed sword from Firkragg with "poison" and "assassination". Also if it's possible to dual that way, is there a restriction on what kind of weapon/armor you can equipt, I mean after you dual to the fighter?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you are able to dual to a fighter, as long as you have 17+ str.
You will be able to use any armors or wepons (keep in mind you can't wear armor while using thief abilities without UAI)

You have to meet the requirements for both classes in order to dual from an Assassin to a Fighter. I think it's DEX 17 for Assassin and STR 17 for a Fighter.

Fighters can use just about any armor or weapon, but some restrictions do apply to a dual-class character, just as they would to a multi-class Fighter/Thief. A Fighter/Thief or an Assassin dualled to a Fighter can wear platemail and wield a two-handed sword if that's what you want to do, since those items are useable by Fighters. But you cannot Hide in Shadows and Move Silently if you're wearing metallic armor, and you cannot backstab (or "Assassinate") with weapons that are not suitable for backstab. For example, you cannot backstab with a two-handed sword. But there are plenty of alternatives.

err.. BTW that awesome 2h sword that you get from killing
Firkraag...
SPOILER

you are probably refering to Carsomyr? If so you might want to note that Carsomyr is a Pally weapon.. YOU KNOW, the HOLY avenger.
Anyway, dualing to a fighter will not allow you to wield it
BTW backstab is basically your (weapon dmg with modifiers) *Backstab Multiplier
So except for the Dispell Magic part, why use the 2 handed sword? Why not use something like the Celestial Fury? Then you have a chance to stun the target, do xtra lightning dmg, and since the Celestial Fury is a Katana, you still do about the same amount of dmg as the 2h sword, give or take some points

UAI will allow the character to use Carsomyr. But a thief gets UAI at only level 24 (23?), and to have the thief levels back the fighter will have to reach level 25 first. That takes the total xp to be more than 7m (7330000 to be exact). Unless you're playing with less characters you won't reach that xp level at all. Unless you use the console, of course.

So if I am a level 1 thief dualed to fighter, I won't get high level thief abilities. Is that what you mean? I thought I would be able to choose from the high level abilities from both classes once my second class's level is high enough.

Am I correct or wrong?

if you dual class, you only get the abilities from the higher level class - thus the advantage to multiclass characters.

Thanks. So say if I want to have 1 high level ability from my first class, I have to at least make it to a very high level, and then dual to another class, right? That's not very convenient...

Better, start as a human kensai (eventually bring him up to lev.9) and then change it to elf F/T with assassin kit as UU suggested, you'll have your fighter/assassin with the hidden bonus of kensai (AC, Thac0and dmg), real evil!!!!
