Melany is a Headache!

Okay, anyone can help with this it will be very much apprecitive.

My guy is playing this game, I only watch with enjoyment. How ever were getting annoyed because Melany is over encubbered on her stuff. I mean so bad she is losing her strength capability. Is there any possiable way to get off of this?

Also off this topic, How do you get to the Orge Cave?

Hi Lime Jello, and welcome to the forum

Meleny's looting and encumbrance problems can be solved many ways, depending on which patches you have installed.

1): NO Patches !!?
Then she will loot heavily and be overburdened, as will all Npc's. But you can remove her items by dragging them into Your inventory. Also when you visit a merchant she will sell her things, and you can drag her coins into your inventory.

2): Ataris' Official Patch 1
She will loot, but not to overburdening level. All Npc's are now scripted to stop taking items when their weight limit is "near" red.
But now you can't remove her items or coins, unless she's dead.

3): The Co8 fan Patch (with/without Ataris', they are compatible)
Now all Npc's are scripted to take coins only, half-share, like Elmo does. She starts with a few coppers only, this means that all silver, gold & platina she takes can be dragged into your inventory. And after Co8, you can cheat by editing her STR score and set it to 30. See other posts in the forum to learn how.

4): In case 1,2,3, if she has items in her inventory and you drop her from the party, and later have her rejoin, those items will be treated as her personal property. And so they can't be removed unless she's dead. If you kill her and raise her there is a big chance she attacks you next time she's removed from the party, so you might not want to do that.

5): In case 2, you can stop her from looting useful items by filling her inventory with "junk", clubs, slings, and those plants that lie outside Black Jay's home. They each weigh 10 lbs, 4 or 5 stops her from looting.

I strongly suggest you install Co8's patch, it solves a lot of bugs.

Now Ogre Caves....

In the Temple there are 4 Highpriests, one in each subtemples Fire, Air Earth and Water. They all want you to do 3 quests for them, the Ogre caves are part of quest nr. 2 for the Fire temple. Only then will this show up on your worldmap. You don't miss much if you don't do this quest, since all you do is talk to some Ogres (and maybe fight them too), but you need it to finish all 3 quests for the Fire Temple Leader, Allrem.

Comic SansComic Sans Thank you for your reply! Well here is the deal. We were able to get her strength back to being ok from resting a lot. Still she is heavily over encummbered. We were able to push her coins into are nonNPC players and replace those empty boxes with a couple peieces of junk. However we have both patches and nothing seems to work still. She can't loot anymore because she is totally filled which is good. But the bad thing is she won't sell any of her stuff when we go to traders. Fruella is at medium encummbered but where not too worry about that. I just don't see the point of Melanay having 5 sets of chain mail boots and arrows she won't need. It even sucks because she has a couple magic potions she won't give up. My guy doesnt seem to want to cheat at bumping her strength up and he doesnt want too kill her. She is NPC druid with pretty nice spells. If there is anything more we can do that would be good, if not then she'll have to be heavily ecummbered.

That actually won't work, silverdragon !!

If she get's stronger her wight limit changes, and she will loot again uintil she's reached her "new" weight limit as per new STR score.

Please ignore my previlous post on editing her STR score, as it don't matter at all.

However, after installing C08, she should stop lootiing, but if she's already filled with items, there's no way way to remove them unless she's dead. !!

Please don't kill her, i really like her. !!

But you could let her have an accident, like running into a group of Monsters alone ( and die, but not by you hand).

Then remove ALL her things and give her the things you want her to have, and go to Jaroo (Druid In Homlet) to Ressurect her for 225 Gold.

If you do this her "no looting" script takes place, and you can drag all her gold (and other coins) into your inventory...

The "junk" you fill her inventory with can't be sold unless you have a VERY HIGH Apparaise Skill...and some can't ever be sold...

Meleny is nice, one of my favorites since even weak Druids are Strong in the 3.5 rules, but she is heavily BUGGED !!!

All of the above should be treated as "Bug-fixes", so even if your guy don't want to kill her, kill her while he sleeps or something and have him wake up to a BIG, GOOD surprise : A Melenty that works "with" the party instead of "aganst" the party.

...hmmm... - ...maybe I missed the point, cause I never played TOEE unpatched - and can't imagine that anyone other does...

even after Co8 - meleny and kella have encumberance problems without looting (just from the equipment you give them - and in this case STR +6 really helps...

...but I think I just missed the point...

I have one more question about this. When we first got Melany she was pathetic she had 2 hit points! Well she got killed by the Jello Slime. Well we reserected her with a scroll. Now is there a limit on how many times you can reserect a person in this game?

I don't think my honey will kill her off. She has nice spells. Plus she comes in handy when healing people. Also her fire hands work great against the trolls. Her entangle spell worked good too for doing the quest of getting the fish for the pirate. We were greatful however she looted her self out cuz The Frog King had some really nice stuff including magic bow which the Rogue uses.
