Glitches and Funny Happenings

Post by Angelwing »

A few glitches that have happened to me while playing Baldur's Gate that I remember, are these:

I had gone around to the back of the Friendly Arm Inn to get Joia's ring. After I had gotten it and brought it back to her, the surrounding area reset, after I had stepped out of her house. So, now I have her ring again, after I had already given it to her! But, she went away when I first gave it to her, and she will not come back, so I cannot get another reputation boost. Ah well, it's still interesting. I've kept the ring :)

This one is more funny then anything.

I was going around and looting all of the houses in Beregost. While I was in this one house, I had just stolen a dagger from a drawer. The second I clicked on the dagger to put it into my backpack Kivan says, "That was a noble deed." I couldn't stop laughing.

--I had a glitch that was wierd but may have been part of the game. When I leave cloak wood mines to sell my stuff and return Yelsick the dwarf keep running up to other party members and keeps saying that he is leaving party and that he wants to join. So like every 5 seconds he is in and out of my party. This is a bother. He gets me wacked a lot trying to deal with him. I have to leave him far behind my group for him to shut up. After I slay the last Enemy he return to normal/.

Heh, Kivan said it again, right after I had stolen another item. I know he only says it randomly, because my reputation is 17 at the moment, but it's still hilarious.

Another glitch/screw up I found while playing yesterday:
I had just been in the Temple (in the Friendly Arms Inn area), then left it to go into the F.A.I. When I went upstairs, the temple music started playing.

I had the most annoying glitch in my game...

After completing EVERY quest in BG + TotSC, I was finally set for meeting Sarevok in Baldurs gate...

When I where entering the building where Sarevok is to be corronated, the game just kept on repeating the video which is supposed to be played THE FIRST TIME you enter this house... the game just continued to play this video on and on with aproximately 2s in between... one time i decided to try and ignore this and made my way all the way into the main room, bur sarevok was GONE?!? I had never before in that game spoken to him in that room...

The result was that my save came to a grinding halt with no way to complete the game... *weeps*

I've had that movie problem, too, a couple of times (the Duchal Palace for example). Solved that problem with the newest patch...
...I'll take a large blunt object roughly the size of elminster AND his hat, and stuff into a crevice SO seldomly seen that even the denizens of the nine hells (give my regards to Rufie by the way) wouldn't touch it with a twelfe foot rusty halberd...

Then you have to ask yourself, is BG worth buying a new computer?

just kidding...a shame about the bug though

Its funny that you should mention it 'cause I am just about to fire up under my old PC and make it my dedicated BG gaming maschine! :D

Its an AMD K6-2 450MHz, with 192MB SD-Ram and it will feature a Voodoo 3 GFX and a ~20GB harddrive...

I think it will be a lot of fun! Of course the maschine is going to be silent as the grave because of the passive cooling I am plannning but I cant wait to get it up and running BG1 again!!!

Hm, Balduran's special electronic device, that might actually look good in the Hall of Wonders.

Well, you're not the biggest freak on the planet. Take me for example. Every year I visit the attic to pay tribute to my old commodore 64. (If that doesn't make me sound like an old geezer...)

Anyway, I don't know if it's a glitch, but in certain taverns (e.g. Elfsong) some of the patrons are these weird spectre-like creatures...they must serve some strong beer there

As for Kivan's inappropriate behaviour, how's this one? Ajantis: 'You're a most beautiful lady, miss". Branwen falls deathly silent, so Kivan takes the floor: "Your candor is appreciated". I've always known that his lost deheriana was really a rough trick named Tazok.

Well... :D

Any of you who have encountered the bug, when you make a full install of BG1, nad then check off all the boxes meaning that you want to install everything fra the CDs... The BG1 setup cannot detect freespace on your harddrive bigger than 1.8GB or so, and if you check off all the boxes the BG1 installe will take up 2.2GB of space (thats what my memory tells me, the values might not be correct but the problem is the same)

The BG1 setup then complains that there is not enough free space on your harddrive and it wants to know whether you still want to install...

Any of you know how to fix this bug!?!
