Whoever recommended Fallout to me--Thanks!!!
What a great game! I really enjoyed Fallout 1 and 2, and loved the opening movies to them and the pop up animated dialogue scenes with some NPC's. I'm expecting Fallout Tactics to be delivered tomorrow--hope it's as good. The main fault I found with the game was that I missed the type of AI that the NPC's in BG2 have--I hope more future RPG's follow BG2's example of having dynamic relationships between party members.

A word of warning about Fallout:Tactics.
IT IS NOT FALLOUT.
Its set in the Fallout universe, given a lot of the technical goodies from Fallout, but NO character interaction aside from point and click. It is a squad-based Real Time/Squad Based/Individual Turn Based strategy game. Not bad, but quickly falls into familiar paths after the first 7 or 8 missions.
I'll say it again:
Fallout:Tactics is NOT A CRPG!

FALLOUT 2 RUUULZ, it is THE BEST GAME EVER MADE IMO.
As for Fallout Tactics I just have to say that it's too much Diablo-like. Kinda like Simon says and you do. Go kill these monsters and after that go kill those other monsters, DO NOT think for yourself, just do as you're told to. That is the reason why I didn't like Icewind Dale either. In Fallout and in BG you can at least choose, whether you are nice or bad guy, although mostly being good is more profitable.

I'm afraid I agree: Fallout Tactics is simply a very boring strategy/merc squad game. Fallout 1 and 2, though, were fantastic games. Arcanum (which is due out in about a month) is an excellent game by the same team as Fallout 1/2, with the difference that it includes both magic and technology. You can literally create a character who's great in one or the other, or pretty good at both.

Actually, it isn't. There was a leak through a beta tester, and a late beta made its way onto several of those @*!?&*$! pirate boards, first in Eastern Europe and then elsewhere. I would suggest waiting for the "final cut," which is due out in about a month.George writes:
Actually Arcanum is already out (not officially of course). I could have it, but I think I'll try to finish Throne of Bhaal first.

Well, I just started Fallout:Tactics, and I have to agree--it is the IWD of Fallout. I was so bored with IWD, that I never completed it. But--I've finished ToB, and I'm not in the mood to run through all of it again, so Fallout:Tactics, it is. You know, I used to be a perfectly happy AoE player (and Starcraft, and Earth 2150), all RTS games, then someone suggested to me that I ought to check out BG2. Now RTS games bore me, I've played all the BG games, including Planescape, and now all of Fallout, don't like Diablo, what else is left??? don't those guys at Bioware have any competition?

If you are really bored, you should play either Deus Ex or Thief. Even though they are somewhat not a text book example of RPGs, they are both amazing hybrids of several genre. Deus Ex is a hybrid between first person shooters and RPG. Thief, IMO deserves to have its own genre because it is so freakin hard to categorize it.

Guys, I just wanted to say that, I really like U.
Deus Ex ruulz. If you like Deus Ex, then you should also try out System Shock 2. It's not that much like Deus Ex, but It's also an FPS-RGP mix.
And also, if you liked Thief, then you should also try Hitman: Codename 47. That's also pretty cool. It's like thief, only in modern world.
