Finding the fabled Tomes...

Post by Infinity »

Hi!

I was wondering if someone who had found all of the tomes i BG1 could share the information about their whereabouts??

I think I heard that there was about 7 Tomes all in all i BG1(+ToSC) but I only recall finding about 4 of them...

Thanks...

Yes, I've found all of them.

Actually, there are 8 with the expansion (Tales of the Sword Coast) installed, three Wisdom tomes and 1 tome for the 5 other stats. These entries include exact locations, and the chapters that they are accesible.

Strength Tome (Chpt. 6 only) Location: Candlekeep Crypts Level 1; It's within the northwesternmost room of this level. You'll be fighting your way through some undead to get here. Be careful to detect and disarm traps throughout the room with the tome!

Dexterity Tome (Chpt. 5 only)
Location: Baldur's Gate - Thieve's Guild; It's in a barrel next to Black Lily, the merchant of the guild, on the southeasternmost room of the guild's main quarter.

Constitution Tome (Chpt. 2-5)
Location: Location: Area 3600 (Lighthouse area); There is a cave in the Northwest area with many dangerous monsters (Getting there is only half the fun. No, really!), and after battling through Dire-charming sirenes and volatile hobgoblins, you reach the cave. When you journey inside, you'll find yourself fighting your way through about 6 or 8 Flesh Golems (can only be hit with magic weapons of +1 enchantment or higher). The tome is in a tiny "island" in the middle of a pool.

Intelligence Tome (Chpt. 5 only)
Location: Baldur's Gate - Ramazith's Tower; After completing a certain quest that the inhabitant of this tower gives, the tome can be found on one of the bookshelves on your (as in you the gamer) right-hand side, on the top story of the tower. Be careful for traps.

Wisdome Tomes
1) (Chpt. 5, expansion only) Location: Durlag's Tower 3rd Level; It's in a DANGEROUSLY trapped altar in the northwest section. (Warning: Durlag's Tower should only be explored by a very high-level party, and needs a high-level thief with tons of points in Disarm Trap and Open Lock!)

2 (Chpt. 5 only) Location: Baldur's Gate - The Lady's House; This is a temple to the Luckmaiden, Tymora. The priest in the south east corner of the building has it on them; they will give it to you if you request it on one of the quests in the city. (Warning: If you use the tome to fulfill the quest, you may be able to pickpocket it back; not sure.).

3) (Chpt. 6 only) Location: Candlekeep Crypts Level 1; It's in a dangerously trapped tomb to the southwest of the beginning area. After you encounter a doppleganger in the first big room, go to the southwest room. (Warning: A thief with a very high Disarm Trap skill is A NECESSITY in both the hallway to this area and the room with the prize!). In the tomb of this room lies the tome.

Charisma Tome (Chpt. 2-5)
Location: Gnoll Stronghold; It's in one of the caverns on the southwestern area of this map. One of the caves closest to the southern wall of the stronghold holds the tome. Beware that it is filled with Xvarts, so a low-level party may have some trouble here.

I had a glitch in my game so i never made it to Candlekeep crypts... I did however complete the durlags tower quest, and it is IMHO, one of the best Quests in all RPG games ever!!

Yup if you give it to that cleric you can kill her steal it back.

But wouldn't that cause the other priestesses to go hostile on you?

hey since ur talking about the tomes i figured i'd throw this in
(multiplayer only)
if u want to have perfect stats for ur party just get the tomes put one in a characters pack by itself export the character drop the tome import the character pick up the book (u should have 2) reapeat untill u fill ur back pack then just drop and import till u have as many tomes as u need to max out ur parties stats

Yes, and ? ;D Well, you can fight them without losing reputation or turning other NPCs hostile.
