Detect Magic??

Post by Lime_Jello24 »

With our wizard he has a "Detect Magic" We sort of understand the whole purpose of this spell. But here is the thing we don't know if it is a spell that is simply bugged nor do we even know when we are detecting magic. I mean does this thing end up having all kinds of bells and whistles go off when it does detect magic? My honey just hasnt figured how this thing works. Any helpful informtation be appricated.

I have read two things about detect magic:

1. Detect spells are bugged.

2. Detect magic will make a dead charcater glow blue if he/she has magic items in inventory.

Beyond those two items, the general consensus is that detect spells are useless in this game whether they work or not.

As for nr. 1 - Agreed ! It is Bugged !!!

As for nr.2 - I find it interesting that they made a use for the spell at all, bugged as it is in the normal sense. Does this actually work ? I generally don't pick worthles loot, like 'black leather' items anymore, but this use of 'Detect Magic' could speed up my whole looting issue.

I take valuables only, Coins, Jewelry, Swords & Weapons and Magic Items, and by doing this together with selling 'Enchanted Items' i've never been short on gold.

Have Fun & Prosper :) :) :)

The thing with detect magic is that the parts of it that are functional are useless. Your characters automatically know when an item is magical or not because it says "magic x" even in the unid'd description -- not to mention the fact that the inventory item is often different and/or it glows when you hold it (in the case of weaponry). Other than that you can use it to detect when someone has some sort of spell effect on them, but again that's pointless, because their status effects are displayed underneath their name, and spell effects almost always come with a glowing animation to accompany them.
