Getting gold

Post by Ruloi »

I am new to BG2 that's for sure.
I'm in the early stages of the game (chp 2) and i would like to know if there's a good way to get a lot of gold.
I went into a bar and one guy offered me 10K gold for a quest (killing monsters)- which brings me to my question: is there an endless amount of quests so i can quest again and again and get tons of gold?
<Please forgive me for my ignorance>

Well , for making quick gold , you can sell items and steal them back. I don't consider this as cheating , because you can't use one item for money making ,when you sell an item and steal it back , the item becomes fenced so you can't sell/steal back and so on ..

At that level you will need some potions of master thivery for your thief and don't forget to save before the steal attempt and after a succesful rob ..

And ofcourse you definately don't need to apply this trick because you can get more than 100k gold selling the items that you get and finishing quests through your experiences in game .

I used it because i was a bit greedy after i downloaded the bonus merchants Image

You can always take lilarcor advice:
"Find some rich and kill him them find someone even richer and kill him, slash and trash your way to fortune."
But serious now, yes it´s difficult getting some decedent cash in BGII, back in the BG I, I was entering the City of Baldur´s Gate carrying a small fortune in gold, but back to Amn, my advice is look for coins, jewels, rings ,etc... in tables, cabinets, chests, etc...
Remember however to SAVE THE GAME, before you try to open a chest you just unlock, pickpocket someone, or steal from a merchant via the Buy/Sell screen because thy can become hostile and there are some serious consequences if that happen.
You can also get a look at Gamebanhsee BGII strategy area for more tips to get more Gold.
- Waterdeep city constrution.

- Shadowdale low level adventure module.

- Rashmare /Thay high level adventure module.

Don't worry about being short on gold. It won't be a problem for long. As you go on quests and sell unneeded items you will find that you have plenty of gold. I am maybe halfway through the game and have bought a few big ticket items (+5 sling was >20,000) and I have had around 100,000 gold for awhile.

Just make sure to pay 5,000 gold to that guy in the government district so you can cast magic in the city. Its the best $$ you can spend in the game.

what i do is loot every possible coin you can get. kill enemies, steal loot houses . You end up with quite alot of gold. also you can do many quests with gold as a reward. A good one would be the save trademeet one where I got 20,000 gp!!

Shit man , I worried about that too, but then if you just go do all the side quests you'll end up with a hell of a lot more than 20 000..... I think I was well over 150 000 when I payed the bastard, just so Id have something to fall back on ... hahaha
