Hi, i have a problem with my sorcerer. At first he casted perfectly well from a distance, which was nice. However, now, before he will cast, he has to run right up to the enemy and stand next to him. Which makes area effect spells useless as he inevitably ends up roasting himself like somekind of potatoe. All my other mage chararcters are capable of this long distance casting... what went wong? any idea how to solve this?
Thanks ;-)
Annoying problem!

Most probably your sorceror was blinded. It reduces your vision range so you need to get close to your enemies ~ bad if you are soloing a mage-type and are still low level
It's hard (impossible except for a save roll if there is one) to protect yourself from blindness. Run around until it goes away or get another character to see for you (and make sure you enable group infravision in options).

It's an oblong whitish icon with two crossed white lines. It should appear if/when you are blinded. You can also check the character record page; on the right hand side under your stats it should list your current states and should say "Blinded."
If blindness is not the case (I guessed it was), you might be aiming the spells incorrectly or trying to cast close-range spells. Double-check spell descriptions for the range of effect.

EDIT: glad it worked out!!
