Too bad Barbarians can NOT dual class.

Straight fighters suck, you're much better off starting with Berserker or Kensai. Kensai restricts you from any armor (but since Leather is all you can wear anyway, it isn't much of a drawback), and Berseker comes chock-full of bonuses.

hmmm...interesting..

so barbarian is a kit definition of fighter???

hmmm. i thought the bioware team did to barbarian the same thing they did to monk...make it into a true class by itself, rather than kit definition of fighter..

do you have tob installed???

if you do, it should be possible to create barbarian {druid kit}

for example, barbarian shapeshifters, or barbarian totemic druids...

hmmm...will have to check later... :p :p :p

no that is not possible because in my SK it puts the barb as a kit of the Fighter so ur char wud be "fighter/druid" with the kit set to barbarian

F/D's, whether dual or multiclass, can indeed wear scale, mail or plate armor. Jaheira can be outfitted with heavy plate. My dualed F/D is wearing the Mail of the Dead+2, Helm of Balduran, etc. A kensai/druid dual would not be able to wear any armor, helms or bracers/gauntlets and that's a lot of restrictions. I didn't choose berserker because of the limitation on specializing in ranged weapons. My F/D combo currently allows me to have 4 prof points on scimitars (thinking in advance to Belm, Rashad's Talon, Shazzellim, Water's Edge and Spectral Brand), two points on slings, two points on two weapon style, one point each on staves and two handed weapon style. Not to shabby considering my char is only a level 7 fighter dualed to a level 11 druid and my party (F/D, Minsc and Jan) has only done the Bridge Skinner, Circus and Pebblecrusher quests. I wanted the ranged attack so I can attack foes who have been webbed/stinking clouded or otherwise incapacitated and there are some very nice slings in the game.

Even though its untrue about only being able to wear leather armor with a F/D there is indeed some nice leather in the game including Aeger's Hide+3 and Black Dragon Scale (armor level of 1). In ToB you can get White Dragon Scale very early which also is considered leather and a couple of others (but they come to late in the game to consider). Berserker rage does indeed have some benefits like the immunity to confusion, charm, etc and the extra +2 to hit and damage but at the same time you cannot be tossing out spells while in a berserker state - or even heal yourself with a potion.

I see the F/D as primarily a spell caster (for both personal and party buffs) and then for offensive spells like insect plague, storm of vengence, and making fire elementals and finally as a melee fighter. Chaotic Commands gives even better perks than berserker rage does for protection from mind controlling spells and lasts a lot longer. Plus it can be cast in advance and you still have control over your char.

Can anyone tell me how many levels a druid has to advance between proficiency points? Although a druid cannot wield Usuno's Blade, I wonder if a F/D could?

i believe druid proficiency points are one every 3 levels but i'm not sure, so someone with game knowledge should help out there.

the 2nd level spell selection for druids sucks HOWEVER, there is the spell barkskin, which makes kensai->druids a viable (and indeed powerful) dual class.

in my humble opinion, even though the F/M is powerful than the F->M fighters dualled to clerics (not so much melee as support) are better than multiclass (although if melee is required i think multiclass gets the edge). i would never go for a pure or multiclass druid, always F->D (ironskins man, ironskins)

Druids get profs. like Clerics do, 1/4 levels.

I had a Druid-dual-Fighter once in a Multi-game with great success !!

I dualed at 9 to get max HP's and 1 extra wpn slot. I put 5 slots in Staff and 2 in Two-Handed style and did most of the monster bashing myself. There's a lot of great staffs, incl. the Elemental ones. When i became druid i put slots in scimitar & sling at 1, spear at 4, dagger at 8 and a second in scimitar at 12. I used Staves all the time unless monsters were immune/res. to blunt, then i used Scimitars.

I had Jaheira for Romance (yes, TWO F/D's !! ) and a self made F/M, a self made F/T (Half-Orc), Edwin and Heardalis. Thats 5 characters with stoneskin effect on them, 6 after i got UAI for the thief. This party was unstoppable.

A F-dual-Druid is very powerful IMO, better than multi due to the large XP gap for a F/D.

:) :) :)

Having played an Avenger, with great fun and success (alongside some early frustrations re abilities) the shapeshift sword spider DOES have poison effect, and had THACO -5, and 5 attacks per round which can slice through stoneskin.

You CANNOT dual or multi an Avenger, since it is a kit not a class. You can dual a regular druid :)

u can start as an avenger and duel to a fighter
just like u can start as a kensai then duel to a mage

Well, you can dual from a kit, but not to a kit (unless you use ShadowKeeper or similar tools...)
