HELP NEEDED!!
Please oh please tell me:
1.) When I import my character from BG1 to SoA, can I change his class to a kit (for example: my lvl8 thief into a swashbuckler) ?
2.) About weapon profs.: Continuing the example above, at lvl 10 I dual-class into a fighter. I boost long swords to ***, and it was ** while the character was a swashbuckler. When the character reaches lvl 11 as a fighter do the weapon profs. stack or does the character use the highest score, thus wasting two
used *:s ?
Sorry to bother, but I just can't find the answer to these questions no matter how much I've searched.
Oh yeah, this is my 1st post - nice to meet you.

I believe you keep the ** proficiency.
I sure hope you don't mean I can't improve further in weapons..!

But i wouldnt dual a swashbuckler, the get even better at high levels.
Yeah but I really like fighter's choice of running a castle. And besides, I really REALLY want to get my hands on those fighter's high-level-abilities in ToB.
I'd wager the swashbuckler's skills will improve nicely my would-be-fighter's asskicking-abilities.

Any proficiency stars from your swashbuckling days will be carried over when you reach one level higher as a fighter...you'll be able to add more stars to whatever weapon skills you like (up to five). If you were to put stars into longsword before your fighter level is higher than the swashy level, they would be lost. Pick different proficiencies untill the second class reactivates.

They don't stack
The 3 prof points from the first class will not stack with the new class to give you 5 (Grandmastery) points, so you will have pretty much wasted the 3 prof points. Better to pick a different weapon or even add another fighting style instead. If you already did this you can correct your mistake by using Shadow Keeper to re-allot the prof points to another weapon. As a dualed T -> F you won't get the thief special abilities like Use Any Item later on so you might want to consider some of the other weapons you will be getting in ToB.
BTW - there is a trick where you can save all your prof points and then distribute them all at once when you regain your orginal class' abilities. It makes playing much harder but here's what you need to do. You must calculate how many xps you need to get to advance to one level above your first class. So if you need to make it to level 11 fighter you will need 750,000 xps. Don't level your new class up as you progress if doing so will give you a prof point that you want to save for later. From that point on just accumulate xps until you reach your target level and then level up. All the prof points, hit points, etc. that accumulated will be applied at once and you can distribute them as you see fit. The benefit of this is that you will have regained your original class abilities (or some of them at least depending on what class you were and then changed to) so you can see how the prof points can be applied. This ensures you don't waste any of them. If you have SK you can preview how this will work out for you by opening your saved game and giving your main char the number of xps he needs to level up. Save the edited game (it will save as a new file) and restart with the edited game. You can now level up the main char and experiment. This will allow you to see how many prof points you have to allot and what original abilities were restored. Now that you know where you are heading you can abort that game and go back to the unedited version. As a level 11 fighter you will get 3 extra prof points (one for each 3 levels of progression) and then a 4th point when you reach level 12. I can remember how many prof points a level 1 fighter starts with, but I wouldn't put them on any of the weapons or fighting styles that you had for your original class. Hope this made sense. Good luck.
