Can't save/rest... HELP please?

Post by theroom101 »

My game won't let me save or rest at all. It seems to think I am in combat but I am not.

After many attempts I finally defeated Firkraag (the red dragon) using a pit fiend. One of my party members died at the end of the fight and without thinking I ressurected with the fiend still active. He of course attacked the newly living character. I quickly summoned some bears and made a break for the door. The fiend followed me but the bears finished him off. After that I haven't been able to save or rest even after leaving the dungeon, the Windspear Hills and trying to rest at an inn. The auto-save inbetween areas is working but not a quicksave or manual save.

Has anyone ever had this problem? Is it fixable with a patch or something?

That's very odd, I've never encountered or heard of this problem before.
Are you sure all summons are gone? That might have something to do with it. Did you go back to Firkaags room where you summoned the fiend and bears etc.?
Btw, welcome to GameBanshee :)

Welcome to the forums :D This sounds like a bug of some sorts. Download and install the latest patch for your game (SoA or ToB). Like Coot, I have never had a similar problem, though, so it might be something specific to your setup.

Does the problem persist after you change areas a couple of times?

If that dosn't work consider re-instaling the game. That usualy fixes everything, but download the latest patch Like my ol' buddy Coot sais, I've never encountered something like that either. One thing is the fact that a game might shut down after a save or a rest. But... not being able to rest? It's definetly a bug.

You ought to install all of the patches from Baldurdash anyway, if you haven't already. It fixes a lot of nasties.

I'm an idiot...

Thanks for the links, and I'll install the patch anyway... but it fixed itself.

I had left the area multiple times... all the way to the slums! Therefore I just reloaded the auto-save slot and the "problem" had disappeared. I think the game assumed I was still in combat because it doesn't believe I am good enough to actually beat a dragon. ;-)

Thanks again... and I'm sure I'll be back while I play Neverwinter nights.
