Slaver and Rad away

Post by Mister Popo »

I have just two basic questions.

I'm radiated, but still in the early stages of the game, where can I get some radaway, or is there some other way to get the thing away?

This is my second game, and I discovered I could be a Slaver in the Den, with a tattoo on my forehead. What does this do, besides being evil I think?
"We fight dogs and we chase cats..."
Chorus: "...ain't no trap can stop the rats!"
"Got no plague and got no fleas..."
Chorus: "...we drink poison, we steal cheese!"
"Mess with us and you will see..."
Chorus: "...we'll put poison in your tea"
"Here we fight and here we'll stay..."
Chorus: "...WE WILL NEVER GO AWAY!"

Possible spoilers

You probably picked up the radiation while rescuing the gecko skinner. You can get some Radaway in the town of Gecko as a reward for finding Woodie. Go talk to the ghoul merchant there. He may have some to sell as well. Also there are some doctors that can help you. There are two in Vault City. One in the vault itself but you have to become a citizen first. The other is in the courtyard and he is an ornery bastard. I believe you have to fix his medical machine first. If you have Vic in your party he may be able to fix it. There's another doctor in Redding, he a more decent guy. I believe one or two of the Den merchants sells Radaway as well. You probably don't have a very bad case of radiation poisoning at this point. If you can find a geiger counter you can check to see how may points of radiation you've acquired. You should always wear the rubber boots when walking in radiated gunk (or BOS power armor).

If you become a slaver several bad things will happen. First Sulik will leave your party, then the NCR Rangers will hunt you and attack you frequently (and wipe you out very quickly). Your rep will be severly damaged and you will lose out on a lot of quests. It will make for a very tough game. Probably the only people that will accept you will be the bigots in Vault City (they're the main customers of the slavers). If you want to play a totally evil person and have really tough encounters then its an option, but if its your first game I would not recommend it. You may as well become a Child Killer as well and really go for the hard encounters - then you will have two groups of vigilantes hunting for you. Instead, wipe out the Den slavers, free those slaves and join the secret NCR Rangers (go to the garage in the NCR) by doing a quest for them.

How to kill the Den Slavers early in the game: (Highlight)In the Den talk to the woman who used to be a guard for the slavers and do her quests. Pickpocket all the slavers guards and steal their ammo, the shotgun, etc. When you get to the point where you need to go with the woman and her gang to fight the guards go with her alone. Leave Sulik and Vic, if you already paid his ransom, behind. Hopefully you have a pistol at this point. After you kill the one remaining guard (the other one goes to a party) outside the warehouse take a Psycho injection and go inside and start shooting those guys as well. Now your new friends will help you wipe out the slaver gang. The psycho will make you next to invulnerable to their weapons. They will run out of ammo quickly. Find a nice doorway to block so only one guy can reach you at a time. Half the time the slavers will hit their own guy who is standing in front of you. The psycho also gives you an extra action point or two. So you can fire once and then switch to a knife or spear and get in another hit. Don't worry if your helpers or townsfolk get killed, you probably won't be held responsible unless you actually injure a townsperson. Loot all the dead, sell the stuff you don't want to keep, get your party back, tell the slaves they are free and if you haven't already done so, rescue Vic for free. Rest or wander the wastelands until you get over the effects of the psycho (a side affect is that it makes you stupid).
