Fortify Health - big mistake?

Post by Jofus »

I was making some potions after having fortified my intelligence to about 37000. One of the potions was fortify health to the tune of about 1900 for approx. 5700 seconds. I was just experimenting and everything seemed well and good until it ran out and I immediately died from lack of health. I have tried to wean myself by making potions of slightly less fortify health and taking another restore health that would offset the difference but I still die. I don't want to keep having to make uber fortify health potions to keep playing the game. Any suggestions? TIA

I seem to remember reading about this somewhere, from what I recall it is an attempt by the game developers to create some balance..

I would suggest that you reload an earlier save made before you ingested the potion, and then avoid making fortify portions when your intelligence is at that level. Maybe try enchanting with an intelligence like that instead.

If I had only made 1 potion I would go back to a saved game and not lose too much progress but I made 4 and had to drink them all to stay alive :( so if I went back to a saved game I would almost be starting over, wahhh, I don't want to have to do that.
The enchanting idea is a good one though, I will try it.

There may be some way to remedy the problem... but if so I don't know of it. I suppose the good thing about needing to restart Morrowind is that the game is incredibly vast and non-linear, so you can do completely different things. Owing to a tech screw up, I had to restart my game yesterday and my character had been at level 40....

Well, I would suggest resting until healed. Then resting for 24 hours. Keep doing it until the potion wears off. If its going to wear off before you are fully healed, buy as many restore health potions as you can. As long as you are on full health when your potion expires, you will have some HP to spare. So get your HP all the way up, and then rest until it wears off.

Is it Intelligence or Alchemy skill that determines how much your Potions will do and how long they last? Like for instance

Fire Shield 17 pts for 45 seconds
Magnitude^ Duration^
What a wonderous love it is
To bind two souls in faith,
Chained completely together
With never a false word,
Weal and woe, wish and real,
Woven each together
From first kiss to last breath
First and last whispered in love
