Demogorgon...... *spoilers*

Post by Agnocar »

I just got my butt whupped by the Prince of Demons. After killing Minsc, then Jahiera, the Demon turned its attentions toward me, and I was killed in ( relatively ) short order. I did get in a couple good shots, though, Aerie with Holy Bolt got Demo down 40 pts! All told, he was Badly Injured, but even worse injured was my pride. This is the first guy since Kangaxx that has kicked my butt soundly. Dragons, Liches, Drow, all fall before my righteous fists ( im a Monk ), and yet this guy just refuses to die!
Has anyone else had similar problems with this guy?

Ha Ha!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D
On a Fourth try, I have slain the demon. Almost single-handedly, Lenaber ( my monk ), pummeled the Prince with whirlwind punches, while aerie healed, Keldorn and Jaheira distracted the Marileths, and Minsc soaked up damage. Tis indeed a good day, and the cool 600,000 experience doesn't sour the event, at all. Of course, by killing him I have freed him, so I may just reload and take the "good" path this time...
You know whats funny though?
Even after landing the Deathblow on Demogorgon, it still lists Lenaber's most powerful enemy killed as Bodhi.

If you are high enough level and have at least 3 tanks, the fight is not that hard. You just have to focus all your attacks on Demorgorgon first. Don't worry about anyone else until Demogorgon is dead, because even if you kill his helpers he will just summon more. Also if you have a planetar/deva and an Elemental Prince they help too.

No such luck with my monk....although I was trying to use him as my exclusive fighter, no outside help. I found this to be futile. I even got the demi gorgon hit with the quivering palm, but that didn't kill him. I may have to ask the board about this. Anyways, I'm going to try to attack with other party members...if I can't kill him with just my monk and some summmons.

BTW, did any of you go in and cast the ritual and get trapped? I know this is what is supposed to happen, you get 80,000 quest points if you do it this way, plus anything else you get by killing the gorgon.

i think i lucked out. i beat him in one try, only keldorn got killed. a few tanks all using whirlwind attacks made short work of him. there are a few weapons that are particularly fitted to use against extraplanar creatures. i also used wish and got 25's for all my characters stats so that helped...

I did not have any problem with him actually. First try and the little wussy went down. Plus I am only lvl 24 and some are 22.
I have 2 tanks. Myself (Berserker. Dual Wield that magic Bastard Sword +5 and Answer +4) and Sarevok with Psion Blade +5(spelling?)
First I summoned a planetar and an elemental prince. I knew I was gonna fight him so I might as well be ready. As soon as he poped up he summone those 2 six handed thingies. The Planetar and the Prince jumped them and started fighting them, while Imoen used that wand of spell striking on the Demongorgon and my two fighters just used greater whirlwind and then whirlwind and then critical strike. And booya 100.000 exp everyone.
Trap? What trap!? Ah shi....!!!!

i think greater whirlwind is definitely the key since you hit him fast enough to keep him from regenerating.

i think only varying fighter classes could do it. as much as i am a fan of sorcerers, i don't think they would have the hitpoints, enough effective things to summon, and the magic resistance kinda kills your other means of attack

A Spell Trigger with 3 x Lower Resistance doesn't get him?

good strategy...i usually don't use any of the triggers or contigencies, so that didn't cross my mind. but yeah, hit him with that triple lower resistance, then Improved Alacrity, and bombard him with dragon's breath or whatever your spell of choice is. have a simulacram ready to cast some other spells as well.
oh yeah, should be pretty easy...good thinking.

He moves as well during your Timestop, right? That would kinda reduce it to a "Freeze all your party members"...

Is Demo-Boy inherently immune to lower level spells? Like the way Liches are immune to level 1-5 spells? If not, Improved Alacrity, the Robe of Vecna and a buttload of Skull Traps might do the job in seconds (after lowering his resistance, of course).

no way...dragon's breath is better than comet. dragon's breath does 20D10 damage as compared to comet's 10d10, and on top of that, the casting time a 1/3 of comet's...

actually i had 4 people in my group
1. Me Sorcerer
2. Sarevok
3. Visconia
4. Imoen

i just positioned Vis near Sarevok when he was low on health just casr heal. while Sarevok was using his whirlwinds on demo and me and Imeon casting non stop breaches. Devastating

Of coz a planetar and some Skeleton warriors to tie down the rest of the enemies
