Need Help swithcing the eggs...need advice

Post by bppny »

Hey I am attempting to switch the eggs phaere gave me with the real dragon's eggs. However, I keep alerting the guards. I have tried sacnturay to my cleric, invisisbily potions and boots of speed. I keep my party by the front door away from the guards while the cleric goes in and swaps the eggs. However, every time she gets right by the main exit we are caught and everyone in the underdark is gunning for me and phaere is now an enemy. HELP!!!!!

You don't need to sneak by the guards. Simply kill the guards by the sanctuary door and then you take your whole party in and switch the eggs. Nobody will be alerted.

It's alright to alert the guards at the door, just as long as you kill them. So, I suggest leaving your group near them, and having one person go in with sanctuary. Just make sure that when you go and they go hostile that they don't have enough time to warn the other guards. Then let your sanctuaried person go in to avoid the golems and leave.

Or you can simply let your party kill the golems for the experience. At this point of the game, they didn't seem to be much of a challenge.

I used my fists to punch the egg guards' lights out, then whacked the golems for some exp. I tried killing the guards first, but then the whole darn city went hostile; not good.
...ewwwww. What is bad smell? You been killing dragons?

Wow,

I've never had this problem. What I found works, and keeps you from having to kill anything to switch the eggs, is to use a ranger or thief with a good hide in shadows ability, and have them either hasted or wearing the boots of speed.

While they are invis, have them open the doors. The guards will agro, but if you hit Hide in Shadows immediately after openeing the doors, it's not an issue, as your never seen.

Be sure to leave all other party members right at the entrance.

Then, run in, access the 'egg storage chamber' and hit pause ASAP. Switch the eggs while paused, and hit stealth immediately again. Everything will go agro, but since your stealthed, they won't attack. Then, just run back to your party.

only the chamber guards go red, no one else. And, since you don't kill anything to switch the eggs, you can walk through Ust Natha with ease, and no issues.

I've used this method about 5 seperate times, and not once have I had any of the problems you describe arise.

Hope this helps.

I used Aerie with a staff of magi (improved invisibilty) went in switched the eggs but then my invisibilty went out because I opened the stash. The golems got a punch on me but I went invisible again and voila, I was out.

I used my main character equipped with boots of speed and Ring of Air Control to remove the egg.

Arranging the rest of my party outside the temple, I took only my main character in, used the Ring to cast improved invisibility, and ran into the Sanctuary. As soon as I switched the eggs, the two guards started shouting "protect the eggs," so I just ran. None of the other guards moved, and the two just followed me out. My party made quick work of them

The golem came out about 30 seconds later, but while he was still "hostile," he didn't even try to attack me. He simply stood there and did nothing.

Hope this helps.
