No, the upgrading is part of the "item upgrading" mod.

Speaking of which, is there a list somewhere of what is provided by this mod?
Believe you can, believe you can't;
either way, you're right.
Playing on pc, GOTY, currently unmodded.

The redame file (http://www.weidu.org/c2/README-ItemUpgrades.txt) contains all available upgrades.

Spoiler:

Improved Daystar:
Daystar +4
1d8+4, +8 vs. evil creatures, double against undead
Protection From Evil while equipped, Sunray 2x/day.

I like how the designers of the mod held back and didn't include Negative Plane Protection :)

Yeah, same here. Daystar seems like a weapon meant for destroying legions of skeletons, zombies, and ghouls but leaves vampire slaying out. I cheated a little and SK'd in holy water so I could upgrade Daystar early and it's basically become my main melee weapon. I like it because it's one of the more unique weapons in the game is not too overpowering.
