Just got the tooth of choas, a +2 greatsword with +3 Vampiric Regeneration.
Now from playing tons of RPG's vampiric regeneration means that when I hit something I steal some of its live force and add that onto my own.
For some mind blowingly stupid reason, this only works once per round with NWN.
I dont have any of the patches but I do have HotU installed is this a bug or was it intentional?
If it is a bug do any of the patches fix it?
If it is intentional then WHY WHY WHY?????
I'm a fighter with 2 attacks per round, and great cleave so when fighting large numbers of small creatures I can get 8-10 attacks per round which would be cool with +3 health per hit, but +3 health per round is just stupid. I have 107 hit points so if I'm half way damaged (50) I would have to hit nearly 20 time without taking any damage to get back up to health. 3hp per round is just pointless
Okay rant over
Vampiric Regeneration
I'm not sure how Vapriric Regeneration is supposed to work since it's not in D&D, however I assume it functions as such to make it similar to normal Regeneration. I don't think that it's a bug.
"Heya! Have you been to Baldur's Gate? I've been to Baldur's Gate... Oops, stepped into something. Have you stepped into something?"
where the logic in that, regeneration is the body naturally (or supernatrally) repaiing damage to to it, vampiric regeneration the the theft of life essense.
I have a big sword that sucks the life out of you and into me when I hit you with it.
If I hit you four times slowly then it drain life each time.
If I hit you four times quickly, it drains life once WTF
never seen anything like that before.
Anyone with the patches know if its the same, I have a very bad dialup connection and dont really want to download them but if it'll change this I will

Ive noticed special attacks like disarm and knockdown dont work with cleave but special damge like +2 fire damage with harbinger do so I would assume vampiric would
Xandax
if you could test that it would be great, for some reason I cant log on to bioware so I'm looking for somewhere else to download that patch from and its just looking like to much hassle. I haven't had any mojor bugs that wouldn't disappear with a save and re-load until now but this is really anoying me.
Thanks

Have tried to look closer on this thing.
What I did was create a new module and equip one of my warriors with a Longsword +7 with vampire regeneration +5 and remove all other regeneration equiptment.
And then I created some spawn points and fought some monsters.
Result is that I can't figure it out.
Basically - it looked like, that most often the first two hits of my round healed with the vampiric regeneration, but not allways.
Attack of Oppertunity healed sometimes and Cleave never seemed to do.
It would however requiere a greater amount of testing to figure out the excat pattern here (and parsing of the combat log), unless somebody knows for sure, but it isn't really so importent that I wish to test it so deeply.
Sufficient to say that vampiric regeneration still seems to be nice to have, if one hits a couple of times per round, especially combined with ordinary regeneration equiptment.
If one only hits consistantly once per combat round, then I'd be likely to change the weapon when finding a better; if hitting several times, I'm likely to keep an inferiour weapon with vampiric regeneration weapon over a better weapon withouth regeneration for most fights.
