HELP! No Spoilers

Post by ladyblack »

I bought this game and took it home, inserted the disks one after another when the computer requested them until it came to disk four. The shop had forgotten to give me disc four. So I aborted the install. However, whenever I insert disc 1 to start installing again, it thinks that I've already installed it. It won't play the game as it can't find some of the files. I can't find any files belonging to this game anywhere, so I can't delete to start again. So I now have a useless game. Can anyone help?

I had thsi porblem as well, most notably with fallout. What you want to do is open up your registry, and search for a term like "baldur" or "baldur's", then delete any hits. This should erase all memory of BG from your harddrive, allowing for a new install.

You have to edit your registry so that the autorun function does not disrupt the installing sis.

Ladyblack, welcome to the forums. :) One important note: before you do any editing to your registry, do a registry backup. You want to have something to return to in case there are any problems that occur, later.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Thank you again. I think I might enlist the assistance of my free computer advisor (a friend who works in computers) and just get him to run through this with me. I know enough about computers to be dangerous......
