I've just opened a Sancerre Grande Réserve by Henri Bourgeois. A fine, if slightly pricey, white French grape. Goes fantastically with food, especially non-too-spicey seafood, greens, and white meats. Or just for a tipple, like I'm doing now, since His Droolness is off with the grandparents, and I can kick back a bit. So since this is the most international of the extremely few places I visit on the 'net, I sort of wondered if anyone was into wine, and wanted to discuss it?

Man, I'm not into very large wine wisdom, but I like them very much.

My dad got a cellar, and we have some portuguese, french, chile and brazilian wines.

My favourite grape (guys, you should try it) is Malbec...

Outstanding taste.

I have to admit to knowing essentially nothing about wine. I have a friend in California who is something of an expert, and whenever she chooses the wine at dinner I find the taste delectable and perfect. Whenever I try to choose a wine, I am seriously underwhelmed. Its just all so incomprehensible. Therefore, I don't drink much wine. But I admire those who know their stuff!

Nope, we're talking about my son, better known as Comrade Sprogski. "Hound Dog" doesn't sound too bad either.

As for wine... Since I'm from a wine-farming community, and my family actually grow/make a pretty decent grape, I'm very interested in what anybody has to say on the subject. I stopped drinking hard liquour back in 1994, and lately beer's been going out of fashion too, due to several reasons. Up here on the Reef we've got an alcohol policy no person from a democratic country can ever imagine, but strangely enough it gives us a remarkable sellection in wines.

Sorry to blaspheme, but... I'm a really big fan of 20 kroner wine from Netto (for you non-danes, that's 3$ wine from the equivalent of Walmart)

My dad's cellar (shared with me

) has some vino samples, nothing superb but cool.

Recipe for a happy bed ending for a date:

->Macarroni
->a good sauce (tomato, funghi)
->a bottle of nice Malbec vino from Chile
-> a few kisses
-> nice word whispered on the ear of the lady

No woman may resist a man who cooks... hehehe

My taste in wine is what wine snobs would consider peasantly.

I like white over red - in fact rarely, if ever, drink reds - and sweet over dry. Give me a Liebfraumilch over any cabernet you can name!

I can do drier whites depending on the food accompaniment, but really prefer whacky sweet whites like Scheurebe and such.

Oh, and as if you couldn't have guessed my opinion: German wines are the best.

Aargh.... what a bunch of peasants litter this forum!

I largely drink red wine, though I enjoy some whites during the summer months.

In fact, while I do occasionally drink spirits and beer, red wine is my alcoholic beverage of choice. I'll post some of my favourite grapes, regions etc. when I am at home

I am no connoisour, but I much prefer red over white. If I *have* to drink white, then the one glass of Chardonnay is enough as a courteous gesture...otherwise I like Cabernet (Shiraz or Savignon) the spicier or fruitier the better. I particularly like Wolf Blass red wines

I, too, know hardly anything about wine yet, but I prefer red over white wine. My parents happen to like some Italian wine (not that that does say anything especially since once I bought them an expensive Italian white which they didn't even cool before opening).

Me, I'm just getting into the wine drinking.. I hardly drink any alcohol nowadays, but wine mostly, especially now it's summer.

I can't take white wine very much either, unless I am eating fresh seafood, in which case it's a great combination. Pinot Blanc with fresh scallop pasta ~~ oh yeah!

For red, I love Italian wines. Haven't had wine in a while though....

I don't have much wine knowlegde at all, although I've tried to read up and drink up on the stuff for some time.
It is more a kind of thing that I find interesting and would dedicate more time to when I have the funds to purchase and time to read.

I can drink both white and red equally, and have tasted some magnificent white wine at a dinner I was at some time ago. Unfortunally - I can't remember the name or origin of the wine, other then it was a chardonney. I have very little knowlegde of white wines, but I know I prefere dry white most of the time, and occasionally a sweet one if it is decent and the situations demands it. But I know nothing much of grapes.

As for red wines I prefere the powerfull red wines from France and Spain. I care little for the "new" wine countries (Chile, South Africa, Argentina) yet, because I find their wine to be to mild

I steer clear of the Cabernet Savanguen (if I could spell it

) and try to go for (Haût-)Medoc and Melot for grapes. I tend to like thoese grapes best. But again - this is based on personal taste rather then knowlegde of what is best.
