Is the armor rating number realtive to the armor weight? Or is it just a flat number.

I'm asking: Is a heavy armor with a rating of 10 better than a light with a rating of ten, or are they the same?

Where is this Ice Armor?
What a wonderous love it is
To bind two souls in faith,
Chained completely together
With never a false word,
Weal and woe, wish and real,
Woven each together
From first kiss to last breath
First and last whispered in love

On Solsteim there is Stahlrim (I think) armor. I looks pretty cool. I might think of getting some and seeing ho much enchantment it can hold. My Glass Armor just doesn't hold that much. I need more power.

Well, that's dumb. There's really no point in using anything other than glass then since its ratings are way up in the 180s and 70s while even Ebony and High Ordinator armor doesn't pass 100.

the ar is dependent on your skill in that armor type, if you have maximum proficiency i think the maximum you can have with light is 166 and the max with heavy is 266 and the ebony mail is 366, i dont know what medium is because medium armor is just stupid and only stupid people use it! well not really but i prefer my daedric and my glass

I agree with blake here... Light is missing out, because heavy armor has both daedric and heavy armor to choose from, and medium has indoril, orc and i don't know what else ( have never used it) if you go light armor there is either glass or nothing. I believe chitin is nxt, but i'm not sure. That sucks, anyway...

however, light armor has cuirass of saviors hide & BoBS, wchich is nice...

Total noob warning!!!

I read in some walkthrough that Medium Armor was lousy compared to Light and Heavy, this after I'd started a Bard for my first time through the game.

A few days later I found -- that Indoril armor in the Ghostgate -- and it RAWKS! The pieces offer protection of 92 or something!

I've never found Indoril breeches, but have some Orc breeches that's pretty good.

Is there better medium armor? What's it's rating. Does it carry the social stigma that wearing Indoril armor carries, (------SPOILER--------------) getting attacked every once in a while for wearing it? (------END SPOILER--------------)

Is there better Medium armor in the game? What's it rate?

What's the armor rating of the better hvy and light armors in the game.

I believe indoril is the best medium in the game...
But you shouldn't be attacked for wearing it; that sounds weird. You sure you didn't kill an ordinator or something for his armor?

The armor rating changes depending on what skill level you are at. 92 might seem like a lot, but both light & heavy armor have a plethora of armor parts with an AR of 100+ :)

Regarding what's lousy or not. It doesn't really matter, because once you hit level 20 or so it doesn't matter what you wear because you'll kick the **** out of anything anyway. Whatever you wear become a personal preference... :)

You don't need to kill an ordinator for the attacks to occur. If you're wearing the armor and an ordinator sees this, it assumes you killed another ordinator to get it, and immediately attacks. After that, you're fair game to 'em all.

Yeah, other dudes in Indoril armor sometimes shout "Where did you get that armor! It's sacred!" or some such and then light into me. It doesn't happen whenever I see them, just when I talk to them or when I get Almsivi Interventioned to a temple (forget which town) where guys in Indoril armor stand guard. It even happens if I'm just wearing the cuirass under a robe. I read somewhere that this is s'posed to happen so maybe you just have a fortunate glitch in your game (or me and whoever wrote that have a bummer of a glitch).

My bard's up around Level 32 (I just can't walk past a sidequest!)

No kidding! It's kinda nice being a god the first time through the game, I guess, but I might want to find a way to increase the difficulty of the game, like say doubling the number of successes it takes to boost a skill and maybe/maybe not doubling the number of skill increases it takes to go up a level.

Thanks for the tips

The Dark Brotherhood armor is also light. It's pretty nice.

Question. If you get the armor off of that mising hand in Mournhold, do the ordinators try to kill you?

I just got the PC version of the game with Bloodmoon and Tribulation on it and was almst bummed about the Dark Brotherhood armor. Without those expansions you have to struggle to get ahead. A quick trip to Mournhold and I had several thousand gold pieces to spend at level 1.

I'm definitely wearing the armor, even though I don't specialize in light I figure it's worth it til I get Orc or Indoril armor for my new guy. But it seems like its throwing game balance all outta whack again.

I didn't notice the missing hand in Mournhold, but I might go back after my PCs outta the shop.

But you really don't need it. Advancement is fairly easy in the game, given the opportunity to practice combat skills and learn alchemy. Hell, with alchemy and a little exploration you can quickly turn around a nice sum of money. :)

I know. It kinda happened by accident. When you start the game (Morrowind), these Dark Brotherhood guys attack you in your sleep, and everytime you sleep (outdoors anyway) after that 'til you go to Ebonheart to find out what their deal is. I went on to Mournhold, looked for their hideout and ended up coming home with, like, three or four sets of DB armor. (I didn't go all the way in; they started swarming me like flies!).

Yer right, though, I shouldn't whine. I'm new to the game, newer to the forum.

They attack when you're inside too. It sucks, at least outside you can run to a town and have the guards help. But your supposed "friends" in the guild halls don't do a thing if you get attacked.

I once had a character who went through the entire game in ordinator armor, and never once got attacked. I just made sure I never talked to any ordinators once I got my set of sweet armor.
