How come that Nalia pays you only 650 gold coins for helping her if you haven't her in the party?
I seem to remember the reward was much more than that...

I think the gold varies if its your class stronghold or not. Everytime I'm a fighter type I recall getting the 10k... also some other dialogue choices may play into it. Safest bet is to be all goody two shoes for the best reward as far as dialogue goes.
This makes sense since I am playing as a thief, and considering that my merry band of companions plundered all that could be plundered in the Keep, I guess I pretty much deserved it...
I dont' think dialogue choices are too important: most of them are played after Nalia rewards you. I choose the "good" speech pattern, but it didn't make much of a difference.
On a side note, I find the conclusion to Nalia's quest kind of unsatisfying if you happen to be a not-fighter type. You don't have much of a choice between taking her in or leaving to her fate (which is, by the way, a little evil). Plus there are some questions unanswered: Who was the "Stronger" TorGal was talking about? Who was behind the Troll attack?
It would have been interesting having some other quests correlated to this one. For instance, the PC could have found a way of helping Nalia by exposing the Roenalls as the ones behind the attack, or maybe even exposing Isaea for his illegal trades and in the process saving Nalia from the marriage. Actually, seems good material for a mod, I think.
As it is, You can help Nalia only if you have her in the party and that is a serious limitation. Just my two cents, anyway.

SPOILERS:
This is where the conspiracy theorists like to step in. Roenall is involved in slavery and who are the slave lords in Athkatla? And they're flunkies of a certain group who hide out in a pocket plane accessed via the bridge district...who also have something to do with a certain tanner AND they hire out their services in ToB.
Its all connected!
Baron Ployer, former slaver, living next to a slaver base?
Obviously there was some meta-quest that was chopped from the game before release, which is a shame.
I hardly know anything about Forgotten Realms other than stuff I've picked up from these games. Is the Twisted Rune a 'real' organisation...and if so what's their story?
Yes, the Twisted Rune is nit something Bioware made up for BGII:
Who are/were the Twisted Rune?
The Twisted Rune is a "very" secret organization (or a cabal for a more appropriate term) of evil aligned undead beings. This cabal reigns in the background of the South (Tethyr, Calimshan, Arnaden, Erlkazar, and Amn) from behind the scenes. The masters of the Rune, called "RuneMasters or Mistresses" consists of several high level Liches, a Dracolich and the powerful Vampiress Shyressa who wields a pretty powerful magic item detailed in the Sea of Fallen Stars, and many others. They have a network of undead, and underworld beings that span the shadier backdrop of the entire Southern Realms. The best thing about this Network is that they don't really know whom they are working for.... unlike many other organizations in the south, The Rune is "Secret", and very few know of their presence. They actually rule Calimshan from behind the scenes...and no one is the wiser.
They are currently responsible for the War against the Sithillisian Empire in Southern Amn, and the advance of the Knights of the Black Gauntlet against Tethyr's Southern borders... These guys have their hands in so many goings on in the south, a party could easily be facing their minions for years and never realize they work for the same people.
If you are looking for more info on the Rune, I suggest Lands of Intrigue, and Empire of the Shining Sea as a start. They are mentioned briefly in other products (such as Stardock and Sea of Fallen Stars), but the bulk of the info lies in the first two... (google is your friend
)
So in theory Shyressa should be a lot more powerful than she's in the game, though it doesn't make a lot of sense she's in Amn in the first place since her lair is in the city of Dajaan. On the other hand the Twisted Rune cabal you encounter in BGII doesn't need to be located in Athkatla either.

There are three kinds of people that no one understands: geniuses, madmen and guys that mumble.
Yes, there's a vampire named Shyressa with Shangalar, so I assume she's the one my source talks about.
But know you say it, "she" indeed has a male vampire avatar in the game and isn't stronger than any other vampire, though in "reality" she should be very powerful and almost unbeatable... much like Drizzt is way to easy to kill in BG2.
