How do you melee?

Post by fable »

Assuming you do. Do you just stand there, and hit? Do you slide around, and run about? Do you jump up in the air, sneak about--or what?

I just stand there, swing and hit. I don't care for ranged weapons, and I don't do much in the way of spells, except for healing and bound item. I'll do a bit of maneuvering, but not much.
I wanted to change my sig, but I can't think of anything to change it to :(

I like doing anything that'll make me laugh like crazy. (it doesn't take much) like sometimes if I'm fighting someone, I'll all of a sudden use my very awesome, extremely powerful jump/slowfall spell, so I can be like "oh look! Up in the sky! It's a bird... it's a plane, no, it's beornica who's gonna kick your __ !" (sighhh. What a geek.)
you know what they say about all work and no play...
It's totally not worth the monetary rewards!!!

I usually circle around my victim and try to aim for the assumed heart :p

Usually I play the 'hit - draw back'-game. Sometimes I'm successful, sometimes I get slain...

that reminded me of the first several times i got into the meele fight....but thats the definition of it, fable :D

i usually try to entertain myself....in&out tactic...try and hit me...aiming to the vital organs (not that it makes any differance, a pitty that one)....generally FUN in fighting - thats the cue
Finding the world in the smallnes of the grain of sand
And holding infinities in the palm of your hand
And Heaven's realms in the seedling of this tiny flower
And eternities in the space of a single hour.

One of my characters is a spear master. Keeping enemies out of hit range is always nice.

I sneak up on 'em and whack them, or shoot 'em. Not many things survive the first hit. *grins evilly*
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Depends on which weapon I am using.

If something big like a longsword or an axe I just hack at them untill they are dead.

If I'm using a shorsword, I sneak then backstab then, then quickly cast invisibility on myself and watch the poor bastard run around like crazy trying to find me, and then I repeat the procedure again.

My current character is very weak, so she conjures up a ghost to keep the bad guy busy, moves to the side, then empties out her collection of enchanted rings at the poor slob....
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.

1. Gulp an appropriate potion (if it seems necessary)
2. Prepare an opening-volley scroll, enchanted item or (rarely) a spell (if it seems necessary)
3. Attack/defend with magic
4. Switch to longsword
5. Hit.
6. Back off (or up) to try to avoid their swing.
7. Rush forward (or down) swinging
8. Repeat Steps 5-7.

...well since I'm a vampire who uses his fists to fight. I usually punch them slide to the side and run back a few steps, untill my cool down is done and I can swing again. Then I punch them as I'm moving forward, then move a few steps back as my arm retracts. Or I just burn them with my fireball ring...
I kill two dwarves in the morning, I kill two dwarves at night. I kill two dwarves in the afternoon, and then I feel alright. I kill two dwarves in time of peace and two in time of war. I kill two dwarves before I kill two dwarves, and then I kill two more.
I may be bad, but I feel good.

I think you should probably play more strategy games then rpgs, with your style. :)

Huh?

I mean, I do like some of the strategy games I've played, and I've like the two console rpgs I've played, but how does my playing style seem to match strategy games and how does it vary from rpg playing styles>?

I think he means that the fact that your have such a detailed strategy is the reason why you should be a strategy player.
