I can't get Scrivener to follow me. I talk with him, and he stays in his place infront of the cave.

what should I do?

Have you tried running to the correct pillar he wants you to go to, to see what happens?
I've found that when he falls behind and I reach the pillar, he automatically teleports near me so I can talk to me again.
So try that first.

Otherwise I don't really have much helpfull, other then maybe restarting the module (it's still early in that module), save/load and that sort of things.

Do you get a sort of "spell effect" graphical effect when getting to the right pillar?


If you find the right pillar and move back to the Scivener - will he tell about the next pillar to find?
If I remember right you have to go to 3 or 4.

he should join your party so make sure he does...if he dosnt then you mabye didnt say the right stuff? could always try attacking it and getting it to chase you to the pillar and then invising and leave for a bit till it becomes friendly again

He doesn't really join your party, as much as he simply follows you around in the "city".

well his picture will appear in your party area just like a henchmen or pet would so yah he does
