Mages and fatigue

Post by fable »

Hard to believe, but I've started a new Arcanum game. I've also been reading up on one of the most involved Arcanum boards, where a few people suggest a sickly Half Ogre because of high fatigue ratings.

Fair enough; but fatigue derives directly from Constitution, and a sickly Half-Ogre actually begins with far less fatigue than an average, non-background Elf. So my question here is whether Half-Ogres receive any special fatigue bonuses upon leveling. Otherwise, it would seem that there are plenty of better racial/background combinations if you're creating a magiccaster.

I could never make any sense of most of the common powergaming race/background combos myself, so I usually stick to the ones which make sense to me.

Go with what you feel good.

I prefer to use half elf instead of elf.

Half elf: The same bonuses exept +1 wp and a litle magical aptitude
Has more strenght and constitution

IIRC, sickly half-ogre is a techie start -- I saw someone on another board make much the same comment.

I would suggest not to spend any points in constitution at all, especially if you chose to have one of the backgrounds or races that give extra constitution. You can always equip your self with the ring of virility or that necklace that fawn (I think) carries with her that give you +6 points of constitution in total. And you can always get Valerien's blessing that will give +100 fatigue points among other goodies.

LOL! No offense, but why answer a question that was placed up nearly a year ago, and hasn't had a reply for 10 months? I've long since stopped playing. ;)

I didn't notice the date of the message :) . Arcanum is such a nice game though. Many people might still looking for tips. By the way, I never liked a game that much since Daggerfall. I think I will be playing it for a while this summer. Anyway.
