Sorry I need help AGAIN.
I have leveled up TWICE and now have 2 #5 spells available but "lack" enough base. What does that mean? And how do I increase my base?
Also, how do I change spells mid level? Is that possible?
This is so frustrating. I beat BG TOB 3 times and it never teased me with spells that I couldn't use.

The way spells work in NwN (3.edition D&D rules) is that you need a base of spelllevel +10 in your spellcasting attribute.
So for bards and sorcerers - you would need 10+ level of the spell you wish to cast in charisma, for druids, rangers, clerics, paladins it is wisdom and for wizards that is intelligence.
So if you want to cast a spell of level spell-level 5, you would need 15 in your spell casting attribute. (And up to 19 if you wish to cast level 9 spells).
Every 4th level you level up, you will gain a bonus point to your attributes. These can be used to increase your spell casting attribute.
Only wizards and divine spell casters (clerics, druids etc) can change spells mid-level, because they memorize/pray for spells from their known lists of spells.
Divine casters, have access to all availble spells for their appropiate level and can memorize/pray for them and rest.
Wizards work similar, but haven't got access to all the spells - they have to find scrolls, write them into their spell book, and then they can memorize them.
Bards and Sorcerers work differently. There you choose spells at level up that they "know", and they can cast. There, you can only add or remove from the known spell pool at level ups.
Hope this helps you.
