Jan's weapon of choice?

Is it just me or is Jan's Flasher Launcher totally useless. He even has his special ability to make ammo for it. It rarely ever stuns anything that I can't kill in one hit anyway. I've got him using a +2 light crossbow. Am I missing something?

I agree. His weapon is pretty useless. I dumped his crossbow as soon as something better came along.
