OK we have BG BG2 IWD all of em are from the Forgotten Realm. Why aren't there any Dragon Lance games of this caliber? I for one think the companion series would make a good game. The sequel possibilities are endless also. Just a thought.
You have-
---------------------
Sturm--You cant go wrong he does none.
Caramon--Need to make 26str for him.
Flint--"Door knob of a Kender"
Tasselhoff--You know we needs Kenders.
Raistlin--There goes your Mage (The Best)
Tanis--Who else could keep em all in line.
Kitaria--Dragon High Lord, and shes mean too.
Laurana--Golden General.
Tika--Caramons wife, and she throws a mean shield.
-----------------------
If not that, you have the Knights of Solamnia and the Knights of Takhasis(spelling) the possibilities there are endless as well. Ok I'm stopping now.

DragonLance never seemed to be as popular as the Forgotten Realms were. Forgotten Realms is much bigger and broader in scope, while DragonLance is limited. But I agree with you, it would make a good game. I think DragonLance actually came first.
Drakron? You don't like DragonLance or books in general?
I personally enjoyed the DragonLance books.

Personally, I enjoyed the Dragonlance books in general, though I never could stand the whiny Tanis. *shudder* Sturm was my favorite, and had a death befitting. I'm sure this has been discussed at Black Isle, following the success of BG1 & 2. Forgotten Realms is so wide ranging and had such variety, it has been by far the best setting to run campaigns in, IMHO. You're right, subterranean, Dragonlance was more limited and never came close to the variety of campaigns you could run in Forgotten Realms.
That being said, I would love a Dragonlance game with this engine. These computer games don't need the depth of setting that the PNP game needed.

OK i only read the Dragons %$$#&#$&&$&"#! at %%&""&"/&/"/ stuff (the last 2) and because I live in Portugal getting that stuff is HARD.
I read the Dark Elf trilogy and I LOVE IT (didn't like the elves of Evermeet very but IT´S A LOT BETTER THAT #"#$!%/#/ BOOKS).

- Waterdeep city constrution.
- Shadowdale low level adventure module.

I only read the first two trilogies. The few books afterward that I started were junk. Anyone who hasn't, should read the first two sets and stop there. If you've only read recent stuff... well, I'm sorry. You're missing out.

Dragonlace is a limited world and it never got the complexity of the forgotten realms ( BTW, did anybody played all modules ? ). TSR made several basic errors when they designed that world which were avoided when they designed the forgotten realms.
There are really a lot of AD&D modules which could serve as basic story for a game ( My favorite would be the old slave lord saga ).
But I assume the reason to create this BG series and the IWD and Pool of Radiance and not a dragonlace or drow exile is simple : money
TSR and WoC have the copyright on all that stuff and they are using that copyright really strict. I can image that its much cheaper just to by the right creating a game which is based upon the rules than to pay also for the right on an existing module or even on a well known book saga.
IWD, Pool of Radiance etc are modules where this right was already sold ( Does omeone remember these old SSI-games ? )

I don't remember the old IWD modules, but I remember playing the SSI Pool of Radience game as well as the follow up to that. Something like The Curse of the Azure Bonds, IIRC. I thought they were superb when they came out. Seems pretty rediculous, now.
BTW, you hit it right on the nose with the Slave Lord modules. Best that were ever written, IMHO.
