Ive been getting this feeling lately that the empire will fall soon, possibly in the next elder scrolls game there will be some kind of revolt in the main land. it just seems that they're getting a little bit too powerful. does anyone else have that feeling?
it would make a cool game. if they are anything like the roman empire(which seems quite obvious that they are) its inevitable.
they will probably be tooken over by 3 ashlanders with chitin spears, that came to the mainland on a raft made out of shalk shells! but then again you cant make pancakes in a toaster ,which ive said before.
im veeerry tired goodnight, and happy omelete-making!

When I spoke with several members of the design team (this was about 3 years ago) for a magazine preview, they were looking forward to making MW guilds, houses and personalities much more pro-active. They were really hoping to have a kind of active level of conflict going on, and that never materialized. If they can get it going in ES4, then it could possibly tie in with what you're talking about: perhaps factions that increase and decrease in influence, land, wealth, etc, but battles measured in economic, diplomatic and physical combat.

I read somewhere in previous games they had the whole of tamriel open to exploration, and it took 2 entire weeks to cross the continent... are they even going to amke a next elder scrolls? in the previous ones was there a tribunal? and how does the political system work in morrowind... there is the emperor... the king of mournhold... the god emperors.... whos in charge? king helseth, uriel septim, or vivic? and where are the games in relationship to eachother...

Well, isn't th empire some kind of mix betwen the real life Roman Empire and maybe the Holy Roman Empire of Germany? If so, there should be a decline, after all, all empires rise and fall. Especially when you have such radical terrorists like the Cammona tong, who with their little nationalist liberation front against the Empire constantly threaten to take back Morrowind. I'm sure other provinces feel the same way. Perhaps there should be a rival power, something to compare to the Huns or Mongols to sweep away the empire. ?

They did have all Tamriel available, but aside from visuals, there was too much sameness wherever you went. All mage guilds offered the same 7 (I think it was) basic tasks, configured slightly with different parameters, for example. It was beautiful, but felt really dull, at least to me.
Bethsoft is currently in the design stage of ES4. I don't think they're even seeking previews, yet. But my editor at one magazine told me that they're complaining (again) at how ES3 didn't live up to their expectations, which means they're thinking along he lines of major improvements. That's good.

The Roman Empire took several hundred years to rise and then fall. A game could be situated anywhere along that curve, including its expansion, just as MW is.

Whoa, let's not use modern terms in ancient or fantasy contexts where they don't apply--especially when these terms were coined by politicians. For what little my opinion's worth, any words minted by politicans are debased at birth and don't improve.
The Commona Tong aren't radical, and they aren't terrrorists. They're anti-Thieves' Guild, but have no agenda against the powers that rule, which is probably why they're tolerated even in big cities like Balmora--they help keep a check on one of the major guilds, and by inference, a house that the Imperials don't especially favor. As for what constitutes terrorism, if you're interested, post about it down in the SYM (Speak Your Mind) forum, and be prepared for a lot of answers and a lot of debate!

Mysterious Akvari
Personally i want to hear more about the Akvari... races of dragons from across the sea. Ya... The camonna tong is like the mob, they have no love for law enforcement but since they practically own it with all their influence, why resort to terrorism?... 'they are a group of business men, nothign more' with strong politics. filfthy drug dealers but terrorists? the akvari was like the mongols and huns Adahn... the book 'the mysterious akvari (akavar?) tells about hwo they attacked tamriel a bunch, and were barely driven off. sounds good to me!
