Soloing WK - Spoilers 4 sure.

Post by Luis Antonio »

I'm soloing SoA from the beggining, planning on defeat all enemies single played.

I'm having a great deal of trouble, though, on Watcher keep lvl three. My char gets slain in no time by those cornugons, specially in the dead magic zones. If I dont intend to slay all of them monsters, I could run and hide, but I only run and hide if that allows me to backstab them later. But, no way just too hard. Each hit used to drain me a lot. Trying to use traps dont work that well, cause I had limited space and three of them to kill, no to mention the room packed with them later on.

My char is a F/M/T, at the maximum exp allowed, with SoA non upgraded weapons, wielding Daystar, shield of harmony, Tuigan bow (all kind of arrows), staff of the magi +5, I got lvl 8th spells, backstab x5, Helm of the rock and the simmy helm (forgot name), ring of gaax, ring of freedom, boots of speed, and some extra things, to help me backstab.

What shall I do?

i think i know the encounter you're talking about.

the simmy helm will net you an extra body to throw at them, and the simmy can use your spells also. they are magic resistant, i remember having a hard time pounding them with my four person party (that included the all-powerful Mazzy Fentan with the Crom and Frostreaver).

IIRC (and i should, as i only finished WK about three days ago  ), they can't see you when you're invisible so with SotM you should be able to sneak past them. However, you are going to have problems later in that level.

i would advise quicksaving and HEAVILY buffing before entering each portal

I've tryed mislead, and they kept seeing me, as if they had true sight...

Yeah, simmy may help... but I still think it is too weak. I went through SoA on Insane, lowering to hardcore only on the hardest nearly impossible melee moments. But now it seems just impossible, not cause of the damage itself, but because of the bleeding 'postslash'.

*sigh*

Any more tactics I could use?

This is probably not what you want, but can't you just run past them to the next portal? I mean, there's so many big bad enemies to fight in WK, you could leave these ones just where they are (especially in the dead magic zones, where you are just a F/T instead of a F/M/T).

Or you can download an exp. cap remover. Yes, that's not the way you're supposed to play, but you were never meant to solo this game either... :p Besides, there's little fun in fighting all these battles and not gaining levels and thus, improving yourself. This is especially true for tripleclass characters. With the powerful opponents in ToB, you really need all of those HLA's.

will he need a ruleset? or does it not matter because he's a tripleclass character??
