In my d&d group, we make log's about our sessions and what happened. It's a cool way to keep track about the story so far and it helps the DM to understaind the players point of view.
Yesterday I wrote a, long overdue and unfinished, log of our quest so far. So far I only wrote a part of the first session, hopefully I'll write some more today.
Anyways, I thought it would be fun to post our quest so far.
It's about three character. A blacksmith named Buck, a paladin of Helm named Michael and a rogue named Faíther Hearíos.
Hope you'll enjoy it.

On a hilltop a couple of miles from the city of Towal, three friends stopped and looked back at the city behind them which they once called home. They left early in the morning and the sun rose behind them, rays of the sun lit the highest towers of the city. The city was waking up and a half hour from now, the street would be crawling with people. Instinctively, they turned around at the same time and resumed walking. Saying goodbye to family and friends had been harder then they expected.
None of the you men had said anything from the moment they had left the gates of Towal. Faíther Heários, the only non-human of the three walked behind his two childhood friends, in the light of the rising son, he noticed something different about them.
Buck, largest of the two worked in the smithy of his father. It was his father who told him to set off into the world and learn to stand on his own two feet. This started their adventure. On his back, Buck carried his two handed hammer, a huge piece of equipment made by himself and his father. He hadn’t used it in a fight yet, but he had knocked threes clear in half with it. This would be normal with an axe, but with an hammer this is most remarkable.
Next to him walked Michael, a paladin in the order of Helm. He carried the sign of his god on his armour and shield, an opened hand, in the morning sun it seemed to glow. Faíther hoped it was a sign of blessing for their trip. The council had decided it was time for Michael to explore the world and spread the blessing of Helm. Anxiously, Michael had set off with his friends. As if Michael knew he was being watched, he looked back at his elven friend, they saw the tension in eight other’s eyes and they could only smile. It felt like they were young kids again, going to school for the first time.
Michael noticed how small Faíther was compared to him and Buck. They had always been the largest of all the kids they knew, Faíther had to use his wits and quickness to keep from harm in a fight. They had been in a plenty of bar fights in their time and while he and Buck took fights head on, Faíther always choose to fight at his more cunning. With his smaller posture he was quicker then most people Michael had seen so far, and Faíther knew how to exploit this. When Faíther was with his back to the wall, he and Buck were always there though and he knew Faíther was there for them too.
Meanwhile they had cover a lot of miles and Towal had disappeared from sight, wherever they looked they saw nothing but grass fields and forests. They had been down this road before, it lead to the city of Balladora, their destination. They weren’t sure what they’d do there but they’d figure it out when they got there.
On the second day of their trip, their conversation was interrupted by some strange sounds coming from the woods on the right side of the road. It sounded like someone could use some help.
Faíther snuk in closer to find out what was wrong, as he disappeared into the woods, Michael and Buck followed. Faíther noticed a man leaning against a tree, the man didn’t move. As he got closer, he noticed blood trails on the floor and on trees. In the distance he saw a man running away from the scene, he was to far and chasing him was useless. He signalled his friends that the it was safe and they carefully stepped towards the dead man, hoping to find some clues as to what had happened here.
An arrow sticked out of the man’s chest, his eyes stared into nothingness, there was nothing they could do for him. Michael closed the man’s eyes gently and whispered: “Helm will take care of you now.”
Suddenly, they heard a sound coming from the bushed, as they looked around, they saw a small kid running away from them in panic. Being the quickest of the three, Faíther ran after the kid. It didn’t take him long to catch up with him. “I don’t want to hurt you!” But the kid wouldn’t listen, he kicked and screamed wildly as Faíther took him back to his friends. Letting the kid go would get it killed, he had no chance to survive in these woods.
Once back, Faíther pushed the kid towards Michael, Michael was better at handling those things. Michael managed to calm the kid down after a while. “I want to go to my daddy.” It said. They managed to get the kid to come with them as they would help him find his daddy.

Michael picked the kid up and placed him on his shoulders, for him, the kid weighed next to nothing. Being carried seemed to brighten the kid up somewhat and Michael hoped to get some information and directions from him. As they reached the road, Michael waited. “What’s your name anyway kid?”
“Bartthak.” The kid whispered. “My name is Bartthak.”
“Nice to meet you Bartthak, I’m Michael and these are my friends Faíther and Buck. We’ll take you back to your daddy. Do you know where he lives?”
Bartthak pointed down the road, “that way I think.”, and they started walking; Michael carried Bartthak all the way.
After walking several hours, Buck noticed someone down the road, it appeared to be a wagon on the side of the road. Next to it sat an man of older age, having a drink while he allowed his donkey so rest before moving on. He looked up to the approaching men and waved them to come too him.
“Welcome young travellers, can I interest you for a rid instead of walking?” The man obviously a merchant by trade. “For a small price naturally.” He grinned.
After a short negotiation, the men decided to pay, all be it reluctantly. The merchant, named Silverkn, wouldn’t stop talking on the trip, Buck listened politely but wasn’t all that interested in the man’s stories.
Out of nothing, an half elf leaped upon the wagon. “Hello ya’ll, ya wouldn’t mind me hitching a rid now would ya?” Silverkn protested and demanded payment, but the newcomer was persistent in not paying and Silverkn gave up after a while. The half elf introduced himself as Marek and kept talking for the rest of the trip.
Michael, Buck and Faíther were on the road towards Balladora, but they would make a quick stop in the village of Miner’s Delight, as the kid’s parents most likely lived there.
After a day, the group finally arrived at Miner’s Delight. The small town grew quickly as the mines were rich in all kinds of valuable material. They rode through the village and noticed that the first houses they saw looked new but were of low quality. As they rode deeper into the village and reached the town’s core, they noticed that the houses here were of general good quality.
Once there, they started asking around to see if anybody knew who’s kid Bartthak was. They were directed to a large house next to the town church, but as they entered the street, Bartthak seemed reluctant to go there. “No,” He streamed. “I want to go to my daddy!” At that moment, a woman came running in their direction. “Bartthak, Bartthak, is that really you?” She kneeled down to the kid and hugged him intensely. After a few minutes, she expressed her gratitude to the three confused men and invited them inside for a drink.
“He had been missing for several days now.” She explained while she drought them a drink. “His no good father Nyros kidnapped him, I’m sure of it. Those darn robbers in the woods are a curse on this village.”
Something felt wrong, but unsere what and how to deal with it, they left the kid with his mother. Reluctant as the kid may be.
Michael managed to get Barttak’s mother, Catherine, to pay for their rooms at the inn. A miner reward so to speak. As they left Catherine’s house, they searched for the sheriff of the town, Cruhand was his name. They needn’t look long, Cruhand had heard of them returning young Barttak to his mother and he was looking for them.
As the three friends explained Barttak’s situation to the sheriff, he started talking. ”To many people come to Miner’s Delight, there is only so much work here ya know. Those who can’t find a job join the thugs in the woods or run amiss here. Some of them live in the awful houses on the outer ring of town, others stay in inns. They are all a burden on my shoulders…” The stout dwarf sighted. “There doesn’t seem to be anything I can do…”
Leaving the conversation at this, Buck, Michael and Faígther decided to go to the inn and see what to do later. When they arrived at the Golden Dragon where they would spend the night, the half elf Marek was already performing to earn some gold.
Inside the inn, there seemed to be two groups, employers and employees. There seemed to be some tension between the two. Buck came alive and hade some drinks with the local folk. He learned that even the unemployed had money to spend, this is strange since they didn’t have an income. Where do they get their money and what do they do for it?
Later that night, after they went to their rooms to rest, loud noises came from the street, awaking Buck and Michael. They opened their windows and looked outside. A reasonably large group of men and dwarves were rioting on the streets, fighting and breaking someone else’s property. Shortly after, Cruhand and his guards came rushing and drove the rioting crowd off. They disappeared as quickly as they appeared. Buck and Michael went back to sleep.
Only several hours later, another riot broke loose, this time only awakening Faíther. He got dressed and followed a couple of dwarfs as they were drove off again by Cruhand. The two dwarves he followed met up with a man in a dark alley. Without talking, he paid the dwarves and then they all went their own way. After this, Faíther went back to the Golden Dragon.
“Bartthak.” The kid whispered. “My name is Bartthak.”
