Playing the game solo is basically choosing not to have anyone in your group for the purpose of helping you defeat Irenicus..."taking them along with you". There is nothing wrong with making allies for a few hours and then either sending them on thier way or betraying them if you like...you know just like in RL. Its still soloing if you are by yourself..through the game's main plot.

Would it be wrong to have Keldorn join you just so you could defeat Bodhi? Would it be wrong to have someone come with you just to get Celestial Fury? Is it wrong to have Nalia join you just so you can do her quests? No to all of the above. Is that doing the game solo? No. So what! If you enjoy playing it, that's the point.

I don't really enjoy playing a character who is as powerful as you can get without cheating. That you did it without cheating is cool, is my opinion. That you continue to play the character, well... to each his own. It certainly doesn't offend me.

BTW, Ubik, I asked about soloing with a bard in another string "What's so good about bards". I think it would be fun and challenging. They have a wide variety of abilities. Someone had documented their exploits on another website mentioned in the other string, but I haven't looked into it, yet.

Part of soloing that is appealing to me is doing everything the hard way. Yes, that means not using Drizzt's help to defeat Bodhi. I would like to try soloing the game as an assassin. I'm sure I'm not the first one to try this.

All you need is the cloack of mirrors. Then it is easy. Gauths can't touch you and you resist a lot of the beholder attacks. Plus with improved haste you can kill a beholder in seconds
