Does bioware replace disks??

My disk was working until i installed ToB. I mean i just played SoA this morning, then I install ToB and POOF CD2 no longer works to play the game, just the load up screen. Ok, heres how it goes: I go to play game, the movie of the different companies appears, I then click on SoA (since I installed ToB I must choose) then when I click on it, it says no disk in drive... There is a small crack, and has been there for about a week so if anyone knows how i can fix this... pray tell. Or should i try to send for a replacement from blizzard

Are you trying to run it with the SOA disk in the drive? Once you have TOB installed, you need to have the TOB disk in the drive, even to run SOA.

NOOOOO not that, i mean after its up, it has a choice between either playin exp or reg SoA, i hit SoA and the disk is I guess unreadable...

OK - you were saying something about disk 2, so I thought you were still using the SOA disk.

Anyway, can't help you with Bioware's policies, although I can't see why it would be a problem (although you'd probably have to pay for shipping ... both ways

)

The game is so cheap now - I think just going to Best Buy or whatever and just pick up another copy would be easier then sending CDs and waiting to get new BGII CDs back.

When you install the ToB expansion, you play both SoA and ToB from the ToB disk. The ToB disk effectivly takes the place of the SoA disk. I never even take my SoA disks out of the package except for installing the game anymore.

If ur computer sux

and it dont have enough space for full install

then you need SoA disk to play SoA even with the expansion installed

well, my comp doesnt suck, I tried full install and it kept freezing at like 53% so i did regular... i may have to copy my save files and reinstall?? anyway, thx guys for tha help

Actually I had this exact same problem.

I was originally thinking it had to do with a scratched CD. I had not played BG2 in a year or so, so I was installing it fresh on this computer. I installed SoA and ToB consecutively, and then without even starting it, also installed the newest patch for ToB and then the Balderdash fixes.

I could not do a full install, got stuck in the exact same place as you, and if I could remember the file name, probably the same file as you. I was able to do the recommended install though.

I also, started it fine. Went to choose SoA, then it would claim the CD was not in.

Anyways, I had scratches on the SoA CD. Considering I couldnt do a full install, because it was hanging up on one file, it is reasonable to assume that it has to eventually read that file off the CD under the recommended install. I assumed it was this file which was keeping me from starting SoA.

You of course are claiming you ran SoA right before you installed ToB, and it was only then that you couldnt run SoA.

Well anyways, I eventually solved the problem using a very ingenious solution.
I suppose I could have called bioware, and they actually likely would have been willing to help, but im impatient so I just went to walmart. I was actually going to buy a nice CD Repair kit, hoping that I could salvage CD2, but lo and behold, there was SoA on sale for 15 dollars (with ToB included). Of course I didnt need any of that, just CD2, but since the CD Repair kit cost 10 bucks, I figured, hey, an extra 5 dollars for a guranteed solution?

Sure enough by the way, it worked. I went ahead and reinstalled using the full install and have had no problems since. Just got out of the underdark actually.

ya, i reinstalled as full install after a few trys of it getting stuck on the same file, but eventually it read it and I am now playing SoA.
