Jaheira can wear plate armor, but I imagine she just isn't used to or comfortable in anything other than leather.
Jaheira's old BG1 pic shows her in (I believe) leather, but the new (BG2) pic shows her in cold, hard steel. Guess she changed her taste ;)

Yeah and if you ever find the battles to easy you can always increase the difficulty in the game options to get a real challenge...

I like making an armory and a hidden stash with ALOT of good stuff in my Stronghold (to bad noone tries to steal it :p ) , also I try to have everyone use weapons that fits them, not always the best.

Nah, what does it matter! I only care if she looks sexy in her armor...

But, several people said they don't roleplay in BG2 because the game is too limited and doesn't really allow for it.
Well, that's where your roleplaying imagination should come in! Why let yourself be limited to what the game serves up.
Because the game is the DM, and to many of us, it just isn't worth RPing against a DM that doesn't recognize RP. That's our choice. We don't really need to be told we're wrong, and need to use more imagination. Especially since some of us have been RPing with considerable imagination in various AD&D modules since the late 1970's. ;)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

<Personal opinion>

I save roleplaying for the PnP games. I feel it serves very little purpose in computer games, since no-one will react any different to you because of it. Accordingly, I play BG like some glorified form of Diablo :D
