What do you think the best class is and why?

Just curious.

Depends...

For me:
1. Kensai
2. Fighter or Berserker
3. Stalker
4. Undead Hunter or Inquisitor
5. Swashbuckler/Mage
6. Archer
Each of us has a duty to all of us.

If you are starting a discussion out of interest - I am still playing around with different classes. I completed BGI with a ranger who became a stalker to complete BGII. I have tired of her and enjoying the company of an Avenger now.

If you are asking in order to create a character, check out the download section for Riverwinds guide to character classes - or I could email it to you if you require - just post here or drop me a line... ;)

1. Sorcerer
2. Blade
3. Assasin
4. Cleric, Talos

Druid is also cool but not in Bg2 I hope they are much better in ToB.

I also choose monk and sorcerer... I would pick a beastmaster too, but without a whip the beastmaster is not so cool, same thing as a paladin without a sword (mainly a two-handed sword)...

1. Ranger/Cleric, i really love this i almost got everything great fighting skills, great defense, great spells, stealth, racial enemy, turn undead,to much to name it all i really like it if u didn't play it yet go play it.

2. Assassin, great back stab (i love backstab) and the poison is really good.

3. Sorceror, spell caster powerhouse, but it becomes boring ad the end.

Kensai, Undead Hunter, Archer, Bard and Monk are other classes that i think are really good but i didn't play with them yet.

I'm playing as the kensai right now. He;s a hard ass but their isnt much strategy to him.
His lack of armor isnt that much of an issue as you can just have your cleric cast bark skin on him. Once he's hasted and beefed up with spells and potions he's literally unstoppable. His main weakness is when there are alot of archers bout. Thats when u start to feel the pain. I want to try the sorcerer and the monk, but i think the monk is basically the same thing as a kensai, just without the weapons. Just my two cents

bounty hunter. traps are neat, cheesy if used improperly but a fun class w/ good mix of skills.

assassin, backstab. did have a lot of trouble trying to use one as the party thief, next time will keep jan for traps & locks, and will focus on stealth.

skald, ultimate team player.

Kensai-Mage
Ranger-Cleric (best druid in the game)
Berserker-Cleric
Swashbuckler-Mage
Cleric-Mage (just for fun)

All dual classed at levels 9+ (depends.)

All of them much more powerful in melee than any straight Fighter/Ranger/Paladin because of Stoneskin and all that.

Somehow, I really don't know why, I like the best the Cavalier... Maybe I attached to him, because he was my 1st ;) .
Anyway 2nd best is a monk, then assasin and then sorcy.

To me theres just something about a dual-wielding Kensai thats cool. Somebody that dedicated their life to improving with the sword...I like the idea. It might not be the strongest class, but Its my fav.

My faves:
monk - cool fighter, handy resistances
inquisitor - overpowered powerhouse
sorcerer - I only truly like this guy because of his ability to cast death spell many times (he was my #2 killer)
blade - too awesome for words

My next game I think I'll take a thief kit
