Umar Hills-2 strange mysteries!?

Post by Thistle »

Ok just got Ranger stronghold. Want to patch up some related quests but feel im missing something...

1) I have 2nd half of torn letter (from temple area 2) about a treasure cache in some rock formations (temple forest)...saw the rocks not the cache..thought i was missing 1st part of the letter so I went back to temple area 2 and...

2) discovered a trap and small treasure cache behind the statue for the sun god (the one that asks for the three rituals) but it appears the statue is in the way of the cache. Also the statue apparently won't die (tried that too)

Any help on either of these would be truly appreciated Image

Don't know if this affects any of the above, but I never did see the forest guardian, so not sure if he triggers any quests...

Ok, the piece of paper, you are gonna need to make Crom Faeyr, the best kick ass hammer in the game.

The trap/statue I'm not so sure about, but since I cannot remember, it cannot be that important.

The treasue cache is a quest you get as Ranger, You get some "hints" that someone is destroying the forrest at Umar Hills. Go there and solve the problem without blood-spill.

There is another quest for the Ranger, but I will not spoil it for ya.

If you solve all quests you get a moondag statue, with which you can call Cerebrus.
Pretty cool huh!

Eh ... slight mix-up here, Source.

The scroll for the Crom Faeyr could be picked up from the corpse of Fierkraag. The piece of paper he mentioned can be found in the cell where Mazzy Fentan (you know, the halfling, would-be paladin lass).

The piece of paper is the second part of a larger sheet, that does indeed describe the treasure cache.

Ehh .. that's no mix-up, I guess. I think everyone knows that Fierkraag can be found in the Windspear Hills.

I never implied Fierkraag was in the Umar Hills. I know that you encounter a Shadow Dragon there.

Is that so? Image Oops ... if that is true, I am indeed mixing things up - but not where I thought I did. Image

Did you get the "Help they are killing the forrest" quest?

If so than the Forrest guardian is at the entrance to the ruins.

she's also there for the next quest you get (no spoiler here) and at the end of that quest gives you the moondos statue

It may take a while before you get the ranger quests. I got mine from a little boy in the slums, but you can also get it from the mayor or the forrest guardian.

So I guess it just waitin' time

Yes, it turns out I left Umar Hills to check out Trademeet when I arrived back at UH the forest guardian appeared and gave me the quest to find out who was killing the forest.. So I guess things don't always happen at the same time for everyone...

Incidentally I chose to kill the Lord Igen and his cronies and now have this dumpy Mithril necklace that can't be sold..Lol

*Begins to wonder if she will ever run out of questions*

I'm not sure, but that little thing might have cost you the moondag statue.

Then again maybe not, those forrest spirits don't realy care how you solve these quests as long as the forrest is safe.

Lemme know how it turns out!

Eeek! I hope I didnt mess things up I decided to stay with that violent outcome because the forest guardian gave me the exact same experience as she would for the peaceful approach, however the mayor just repeats its a pity I resorted to violence but he is extremely grateful to me for saving the forest..or some such thing...

*shrug*

Still finishing up some quests so hopefully I get the nifty statue Image

Sourced is right, there really isn't a wrong way to solve the forest puzzle, but then again I didn't slaughter the village then go for the hills.

Hi folks, just to update for all who are curious. I killed the stinky shadow dragon with the long name (Temple area) and he wasnt to bad after all...anyhow I did get the scroll of Crom Faeyr and all the other goodies that come with a dead dragon Image I went back to UH after this and then I got the quest to free the ogre and the young boy in the Umar caves, so the town still needs my assistance and as it appears "life" goes on Image

I sort of got side tracked with other quests (ie Jan) but hopefully my next post will have me as the proud owner of a Moondog Statue!

Thanks once again to all for your help!
