Well, my best impression of the game was the ending. I liked the ending video mucho mucho It reminded me a bit of the ending of Planescape Torment. It may sound crazy but the game started to become interesting just after Irenicus died LOL.
The worst of the game is at the beginning. I think the fact that Bio let us restart without our own equipment from BG1 is just somewhat lame, this has left a bad taste in my mouth for almost the rest of the game, doh.
But overal I'm very impressed of the game, very rich worked details, the fights are often awfully crazy and difficult to win, and there are many many quests and cool (and powerful!) artefacts which make BG2 definately a very enjoyable game, which I will not forget too soon.

Where there's a will, there is a way.
And if there is no way, then we're going to hack and shoot it clear!
The beginning was truly boring; my roommate gave up after meeting the genie and getting Sarevok's sword because he said it was too much like a run-of-the-mill rpg and at that point it is. I think most of the quests were original enough that it kep me playing for more, and I did like the ending, although I wish there was more payoff with the Jaheria romance.
SPOILER WARNING!!!!!!!
But the ending to Planescape:Torment ranks as my favorite. Tragic, poetic, and perfect, the ending (the good ending) of Planescape stayed with me for weeks. It ended finally with little chance of there being a sequel. Of course, if there is going to be a part 2 I hope they'd let us import characters since my was a friggin' god.
From a roleplaying view the best part of the game were the new kits-the game has great replayability. From a gaming view,i believe the plot was good, the NPCs interactions and subplots were interesting and the dragon fights were the most challenging battles of the game.
Putting bugs aside (which are inevitable for a huge game like BG2) i didn't like the fact that some spells effects were not so impressive and that the timing of some NPCs dialogue was inappropriate (e.g Anomen stating the beauty of the sundown when my party was in Bodhi's lair).
Now about what flinfman wrote,i read somewhere that the team of Ps:T is currently working on a new RPG but they will not use AD&D rules or any known PnP AD&D world. For the rule system they didn't state if it is an existing one from some other RPG or a completely new (i think is the latter)
So it seems it would be impossible to import your charcter from Ps:T.The fact they are not going to make a sequel for Ps:T is good-Torment was an excellent and unique RPG and it should stay like this.
By the way, i have the impression that few BG1 or BG2 players had played Ps:T.I might be wrong but it seems that this game despite its quality was not so popular.
PS(for everyone played that game) Can you believe that some people said they did NOT like the ending of Ps:T ?
